One time, a counselor (though they didn't like being called counselors) at a camp I went to asked me during a casual conversation in the presence of others if he could ask me a question. I said no. He asked it anyway (I don't remember what it was; something easy to answer on my part, though, I remember that). I told him I wasn't going to answer it because I had already told him that I wasn't going to answer whatever he asked. Later, the other people who were present (they were the, uh, other students of the camp or whatever you call them) asked me why I had been so rude to him. I didn't understand how I had been rude. He was the one who asked me a question when I specifically told him I wasn't going to answer it, and apparently I did something wrong by holding true to my word.
