I can't stand the sound of vacuum cleaners.

It makes me cover my ears and run away @_@ Been like that since I was little, my mom always thought it was a little odd.

It's not that the sound scares me or anything, it's something about the pitch or something. I don't know. It just sounds... odd to me and I cringe when I hear it and, as I said, my eyes water.

is there any chance can avoid it...see if those who are doing it,can do it when are not there, make sure they tell self when its going to happen so can plan a routine of going out around it,wear ear plugs and ear defenders over the top,
and sit in the furtherest room till its done.
what about getting them a carpet sweeper.

this is the one thing am like a lot about having laminate flooring--no hoovering involved, only not everyone has laminate here so hoover does get taken out and means have to get out of here to.

You'd get along great with my cats. They can't stand the vacuum either.

I like cats, with a little bit of garlic and salt.

I don't like the sound either but I think it's more psychological rather than me having
sensitive hearing.I just find the sound to be aggressive and menacing. If I made an effort I
could try and change my reaction by imagining it to be friendly and welcoming instead but it's not easy !
