more literal when tired?
Just out of sheer curiosity, that means nothing but I thought I would ask, do you get more literal the more tired you are? I was at the office xmas party last night, which finally broke up at nearly midnight. Then, when I got home, because my mind was racing, I read for an hour to try to calm my mind down enough to go to sleep. I got about - oh, 4 hours of fairly unrestful sleep, and I woke up because I woke up, didn't even sleep long enough for the alarm to go off.
This morning I was standing at the front desk talking to a patient who I knew outside of the office setting, and the receptionist who was making up the appointments for this patient hands the requisitions to me, and says to "give these" to the patient. I did. What the receptionist MEANT was "give her these papers and explain to her the appointments". It didn't occur to me as a possibility. When I did that, she laughed and said 'oh, I meant for you to give her the information. I didn't want to interrupt your conversation". Um, it did. I have a feeling I was annoying the receptionist a little bit too. Two faux pas within 10 seconds, a personal best. lol!
I am not always literal - I have my moments though. However, I seem to get caught a lot more when I haven't had enough sleep or am overly tired, or just not paying attention. and you?

Any stress-inducing factor which limits my capacity to analyse and contextualize will make me more literal and less able to understand jokes, sarcasm, etc.
Basically my ability to think is diminished.
It's the same for everybody, I guess, 'cept some people suffer way more under pressure.

I'm more autistic in general when I'm tired or ill.

i act in a slight drunken manner when i'm tired. i'm also rather literal and honest with people and things. i'm even more aloof and i become slightly rude/honest.
i viciously snapped at my sister for chewing loudly while we were staying at my late grand parent's house in the country. we evacuated there for the hurricane(yes, that one). we had no power, i slept on the ground next to dresser, rubbed against the cold metal handles on the dresser at night(it was hot, we couldn't open the windows, long story). i slept little and nearly lost it when i was told we may have to stay in this hot house for another week. i learned truly what i was like with a small amount of sleep in those three or four days. there was one radio station that was running near our area. we had a battery powered radio and i clung to it at night, listening to the outside world. it kept me pretty sane.
