why do people associte the end to the current way of life as the end of thew orold?
the end of humanity as the end of the world?
end of life as the end of the world?
None of them would be the end of thewoprld. Only the end of the world will be the end of the world.

your probably right. i think most people consider the end of the world to be the end of humanity, and not earth since im shure the earth will be here long after our species dies out or migrates to another planet

Well it would be the end of their world in a sense, you know how people may describe their world as being able to fall apart, possibly due to natural disaster, but doesnt mean the whole planet is destroyed by natural disaster. I would think that Asipies would know about personal worlds. :P

Because humans are incredibly self-centered.
If we dont move, the world stops.
Not sure who started this but i would
like his head served to me on a silver
platter, please. We are not that big
and important, we have much less of
an impact on things then we think but
we are now good on the way to elevate
ourselfes up to the status of god-like
creatures.

And it f-ing pisses me off! :x
We are mearly ants in the grand
scheme of things, we dont have
any real power, we just hang on
and stair at our own bellybuttons
with joy, clueless or not wanting
to look around, thats the trait of
a selfish species with too much
ego. And, i have no doubt that
it will kill us all in the end if
something else doesn`t beat
us to it, no doubt, unless something
change for the better in a big way.

Yeah, Michael Rennie and Patricia Neal were great in that movie! Too bad there are no stars of their calibre around so that the movie makers have to rely on special effects instead.

But it is Keanu Reeves, you know the one that did the Lake House. I saw the trailer for it ages ago, sounds interesting, but I realy dont understand what they mean in it by earth standing still.

Ok, you guys have moved the topic of conversation from the end of the world to films. The end of humanity might as well be the end of earth, because what else is it going to be good for when we dont live on it?

Probably. You know how depressing the media is these days. Then again, have they ever been not depressing?

Yes I saw one on History channel. However the disappearance of humanity was sudden and was not caused by any cataclismic event. It was as if one day we all just suddenly disappeared.

I think we humans do actually have the power to end the world but not because of what we are doing. Think about it, all that some of us would have to do is push a few buttons that launch these things called nuclear weapons and poof, the end of the world in a matter of moments.

The end of the world is often used in place of "the end of the world as we know it", which any global event, even a positive one, could potentially cause.

As for actually ending the world, humanity does indeed have the power to render the planet uninhabitable, but we'd have to do it intentionally. And even then the Earth would still be there, it just wouldn't be the Earth we've come to know.
