I got a university-sponsored e-mail a while ago trying to interest me in joining the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE). I assume their chosen acronym is pronounced "knob-chee".
I am neither black nor a chemist, so this message once again confirmed my suspicion that my university indiscriminately shotguns these irrelevant junk e-mails to the entire student body.
What a shame that I shall never count myself among the illustrious NOBCCHEs.
