Could this be the reason?

Five. Five is a good number.

Five fingers
Five toes . . .
Five eyes . . .
Dave Brubeck's Take Five . . .

20 rules. It's the second smallest two-digit number ending in zero, but it has more factors than 10!

1,2,4,5,10,20 as opposed to 1,2,5,10. Awesome.

I have to do everything in twenties if I don't take my meds

Try 60, it has more divisors than any other number under 100..
Which is why the Babylonians based their number system on 60.

20 is easier to use in multiplication. There are five twenties in 100, 50 in 1000, 50,000 in 1,000,000. Divide 60 into a round number. Most of the time you get deeeeeecimaaaaaals.

Plus, if I had to do everything 60 times instead of 20, it would be the death of me.

4, 9, 13, 17, 42, 121, 242, 808, 1347, 1441

I couldn't tell you why; quirky mix of primes, squares and palindromes.
