Just saw movie 'Marley and Me' and it was very hard since I lost my two dogs the last two years. It's the first time since 1988 that a dog was not part of my life.

I'm curious about others. Being on the autism spectrum, I would hazard to guess that most of us have had pets with a bond that taught us what unconditional love was. Pets throughout my life have always been my best friends and supported me in ways that I will always be grateful for. From being an outdoor companion to licking away tears of grief from broken human relationships.

I'm curious about others favorite pet and why. My black lab had to be put down last summer due to a spinal injury. His name was Silver even though he was just about all black except for a small silver streak on his chest. He was my favorite because he added so much love to my life. He would always fetch the stick or ball and loved to dig for field mice and moles.

He was our kid in more ways than one. Yes, we enjoyed spoiling him at times. Usually he would get tucked into his dog bed at night. Thunder storms and fireworks usually would cause him to jump under our covers. While we sit he loved to put his feet on our shoulders and lick our face. And of course when we would come home from work he was more excited to see me than any human ever was.

I guess I'm feeling nostalgic and sad that they remain solely as memories. Unable to get a dog right now with possible travel plans which includes a possible move to another country. I've got lots of pictures and still often have Silver on my screen saver. Pets literally have shaped me and taught me far more than I've ever taught them. Animals in general are all highly respected and appreciated when I come across them in the wild.

Thank you Silver, Tippy, Tootsie, Gemini, Delila, Dolly, and Joey. From early childhood on you all have a special place in my heart. I do walk a neighbors dog since they are very non-active. He's a two year old black lab named Deuce and amazingly acts just as crazy as Marley in the movie. I'm sure he's got ADHD at the very least. But what fun he is!

I miss both of my dogs terribly - the two of them were a part of the family for so long, and without them the house if so empty. Anna died at the age of 13, and Daisy at the age of 11, and it feels like I have had a really large part of my life taken away (I had a better rapport with them than I do with a lot of people).

I absolutely despise pets. And I'll admit I'm told I'm very cruel towards them, but I don't try to be.

I miss my dog while I'm in school.
