I'll go through it quickly. I don't want to upset myself with the details

Our cat has a litter of 5 kittens who are 6 weeks old. They have started to climb up the stairs, and we were worried that they would fall through the banister rails. We were going to put some guards up against the railings today, but we were distracted as a future owner of one of our kittens came round to see their kitten. We were talking, and suddenly mum said she thought she saw something falling. She got up to take a look.

The youngest kitten, Scrawny, had fallen 10 feet onto the tiles. He wasn't moving and he was bleeding. The guests quickly left and mum and dad took both him and his mother to the vet, leaving me behind to look after the other kittens.

They returned an hour later, having left Scrawny and his mother at the animal hospital. Apparently the vet hadn't found anything wrong with him, but wanted to keep him for a few hours to take some x-rays. Aparrently he was able to walk and just seemed a bit sure.

We left him there at 5pm. It is now 9:10pm. I can't stop thinking about him, and neither can anybody else. We're all just so tense.

I hope he is okay.

Well I hope that the kitten is OK.

Cats normally turn in flight and land on their feet, so they are normally OK. I do not know how old they have to be before they can do that.

Hope he's ok.

I once had a kitten about that age survive a broken neck. It was amazing.

That's so sad, I hope he's fine now. My cat fell down from the third floor (about 8 meters) but he was more scared than hurt. He was about 6 months old that time though...

I hope everything turns out all right.
Isn't it kinda funny how such a tiny ball of fuzz can wrench our hearts out?

He's okay, we've collected him and his mother. Apart from a bloody and swollen noise, a sore leg and a hurt pride there was nothing wrong with him. The vet gave us some painkillers to put in his food to stop his leg from hurting too much. At the moment he is curled up with his four other sibling, whilst their mother watches proudly.

I can believe that he is acutally alright. I was thinking the worst...

I am glad to hear your kitten is alright. It is always scary when something like that happens. That is one lucky kitten---that was a long fall.

I am happy to hear everything is okie-dokie.

When I was young- about 13, I think- I ran into the house to try and answer a ringing phone. On my way our new kitten accidentally darted out in front of me. It was all so fast and he was so small I barely had a chance to do anything other than keep moving. I ended up kicking the poor thing across the room where he fell into a small pile of fluff. My parents took him to the vet but they returned alone. I was an absolute mess for days after that. No school, no food, nothing. It took a very long time for me to even contemplate getting close to another cat. I think that is why I am so protective of my pets.

I've been through the baby/toddler stage with my son, and I've had kittens....kittens are alot tougher to keep up with when they're on the move.

Glad to hear he's okay.
