I already had my present from my parents - a gift certificate, which I spent already on a new coat boxing day week (mom always wanted a Christmas Baby, I swear, she often combines my gifts for convenience. Most of the time my BD gift gets wrapped in Christmas paper...
The good thing about getting it early is I hit a good sale on a coat that I needed/wanted anyway )
I didn't really have anything to unopen this morning, but there is always the coworkers gifts - I am pretty sure one will remember, anyway (although I try not to get my hopes up on that). My sister's gift is "pending" - it didn't arrive, so it might still be in the mail.
I bought a gift for myself yesterday - I had some ancient gift certificates, and I decided I needed a cappuccino machine. So I took my gift certificates in in the hopes that they were still good (gift certificates purchased before Nov 2007 in Canada can expire, they changed that through legislation so they can't expire, unless it is unreasonable to expect the service to be offered years later). Got to the counter and found out that they had expired in 2007 (I didn't realize I had them that long) but the clerk and her manager were kind enough to reactivate the GC's
Score one for not being indignant and taking the blame for not spending them when I should have. The only caveat was I had to spend them yesterday, which wasn't a problem, I was going to get the coffee machine regardless. I ended up spending all of $30 on it, after sale price and GC. Not too shabby:).
I bought myself a birthday cake as well, and had a piece for breakfast.
