The one about childhelp.org... there are three pictures, the first is of some happy child, the second is of some androgynous-looking person with a shirt that says "child abuser" and his/her hand up in the air with one finger extended, the third is a close up of the child's face looking vaguely concerned and what might be a hand on her shoulder. Or at least that's how I interpret the three images, maybe I'm missing something, but I just don't get what it's trying to say.

It reminds me of a test I was given when I got diagnosed, I was given five small pictures and asked to assemble them into a story... I had no idea what was going on in that either.

PS and who the hell cares whether Franki stays in school anyway :P

Not from here, I can't. If I remember, I can try it from home, but chances of that are slender... it was just bugging me now, I will have forgotten it later

I concur. These adverts are rather obscure. At least the healthy eating one makes sense.

Presumably Frankie is the girl with the odd look on face (in the picture that goes with the advert that urges us to keep her in school.).

Her hair style reminds of a particular scene in that movie "Something about Mary" where she mistakes some gooey stuff hanging off another character's ear for hair gel.

I know what you're talking about. I don't understand how the woman is a child abuser besides the T-shirt obviously spelling it out. It just looks like a cute little girl to me, thats it. Trust your instincts? More NT mind reading!! ! Sigh.

That advert bothers me too because I don't understand it. Trust your instincts? Why would your instincts say 'that woman is pointing upwards, she must be a child abuser'? What would make such an 'instinct' reliable? Who is the advert aimed at - adults or children?
I didn't notice the child had a hand on her shoulder, or looked concerned. To me she just looked confused. I suppose the idea is that the person putting a hand on her shoulder is going to abuse her so the kid looks worried because she knows something bad is going to happen.

I don't know why we're supposed to care if Franki stays in school or why Franki is supposed to care if a bunch of internet people she's never met want her to stay in school.

The 'Help Franki stay in school' is especially puzzling. So, they are implying that Franki can only stay in school if she joins the military? High school, or transitioning to College? Because if Franki's going to drop out of high school, then she'll drop out of high school regardless of military intervention. It's probably better for "Franki" if she works for the summer or gets student loans rather than going to Iraq to get her head blown off. I don't know about the military even. "Franki" is kind of a butch name, and you all know how the military feels about gays and lesbians.

Of course, there is no "Franki", it's a marketing ploy.

The child abuse one essentially states that if a person gives off a weird vibe, then keep your children away from them. Kind of ironic for it to be on an aspie site, but whatever.

Also, it's saying that you can't tell a child abuser by how they look. Just because someone looks nice doesn't mean they are nice.

Also, just because a child seems happy at a particular moment doesn't mean that they aren't being abused at other times.

My dad abused both me and my brother but was the nicest person around when we were in public. Some people really have Jeckyll and Hyde personalities.

The advert is just annoying to me, the message is rather confusing for me anyway. But it's not as annoying as the "Bare Necessities" advert I see at the top of the page.

Franki needs intervention - with her hair style! The Tonya Harding look isn't going to get her far in life. Maybe if she gets better hair - she'll meet a nice boy who's a good study buddy, her grades will improve, she'll go to college and grow up to be a successful XM radio talk show therapist.

The advert reminds me of a programme I saw on television that told of how many mothers would not enroll their children in a nursery that had a male nursery nurse. It had some interviews with these mothers and they were saying they didn't trust male nursery nurses with their children because "...you can never be sure" or "...just to be on the safe side."

I really don't think instincts are the best guide as to who is or isn't a child abuser.

Oh, and who or what is this 'Franki' character?

I think men can make awesome child caregivers. Its very unfortunate that the idea is feared. Kids love goofy guys!! ! Men have a unique ability to make children laugh that I don't think women possess as much. (Except, of course, me.)

Also - men are much more willing and able to play sports with the children - even just a random "game" of soccer with a 3 year old is a wonderful thing. I know from my own experience, I can't get as excited about that as men I know. Men truly seem to enjoy playing "sports" with small children!
