Let me define pautism...

Pautism is the condition where your autistic traits make others think you're on drugs.

I have gotten this quite often, I have even been asked in public by a complete stranger once if I were high. (just about tore the guy into pieces, but managed to collapse inward instead... I hated that day)

Have you ever had pautism?

Not sure. But at school a lot of the kids will ask me if I am high. I look at my face in a mirror and I often do look high.

That would be pautism, the facial expressions is associated with autism srongly enough to call that pautism.

Not that I know of, though I do love to spin around and around and around again (when I'm alone) and it probably makes me look a bit high.

I'm actually very, very surprised no one has ever accused me of being on drugs. Under my eyes are naturally dark because of hereditary genes and I've had a fair amount of hallucinations throughout my life. I've actually gotten so used to them, they barely even phase me anymore. Like sometimes they appear to be real which can greatly confuse me, but then other times, I know they're fake like if I see a ghost or a glow-in-the-dark mouse. Yes, I'm just that weird. lol

Yes, people were always convinced I was stoned in middle/high school. Wearing sunglasses indoors constantly to combat fluorescent lights didn't do much to disprove this either.

That's sort of funny... yeah, when I was in HS. People thought I was high all the time, but I haven't even looked at pot yet.

Yes. Yes I have. How'd you come up with the name Pautism? I've been asked a lot, (usually when I went to a regular school) whether I was on drugs or high.

Just combined pot and autism, and got pautism. Kind of an amusing name, and it just stuck... I still get accused of being high every now and then... I also find that I go off on tangents that are just so poorly though out that it doesn'thelp my case, and every now and then I come accross as being alien to this world.

No. But I guess if somebody saw me when I was on my own then they might think I was high.

I think it has affected job interviews and a lot of other stuff as well. My family think i'm a druggie.

Yes. I was arrested for driving the wrong way up a one way street for one mile. I was handcuffed and everything. They were sure I was on drugs.

They tested me for two whole hours at the PD. They recommended I not drive anymore. I haven't driven now in two years, since my doctor's office agreed.

You see, my NLD is so bad that I thought I was doing the right thing. And NLD is one component of my AS.
