That adults here do most of the posting. I feel lonely being one of the only talkative teens.

Eh, don't worry about it. You'll be an adult in a couple of years.

There are a lot of people who don't have their age posted in their profile though. So there's a good chance there's more teens posting than you realize. :)

Very true, didn't think about that one.

after posting w people my age, from the beginning (meaning.. they age as i do), and then posting on other more "maturely inhabited" forums, this forum, to me, seems full of kids ;]

i guess its a matter of perspective

There seems to be a really wide age range on this site, and I think that's good.

At 16 you're really almost an adult anyway. I don't really distinguish between you and me on the basis of age. I basically feel like I'm in the same age group as you - I'm on the other side (or am about to be in a couple of weeks when I turn 21) of basically all the legal age barriers but it all seems awfully arbitrary. I know the age barriers are there for a reason but I tend to think we should err on the side of them being lower. (Certainly, 21 is too old for nearly anything ... 18 is the highest age barrier anything should come with, if not lower.)

But now I'm getting into politics. The point is, I don't feel that different from a 16-year-old. Maybe once I'm financially independent and living on my own things will change but as it is now, not so much. It's not really that I don't that see myself as an adult so much as that I really think adulthood starts earlier than society says it does. People in their late teens are adults to me. Traditionally they have been seen as adults, but especially in the US growing portions of society are effectively being infantilized. There is all this BS out there now about adolescence really extending until 30 or 40 and ... what, soon you're going to go straight from an adolescent to a senior citizen? It's ridiculous.

Argh, I'm ranting about politics again.

Anyway, when I was your age (and younger) I was the victim of some pretty nasty ageism on the Internet. I hated being looked down upon for my age. It still pisses me off now if I ever see a hint of it (it's not as overt now that I'm past 18 or so). So I guess I just want to say that I really don't give a crap how old you are ... I'll judge you by a lot of things but never your age.
