I just realized what happened to me as a child may have been a bad trip from my adhd medication.

I was sleeping in my bed and started having a nightmare of Oscar the grouch yelling at me and saying I was good for nothing.
Then I woke up feeling like I was spinning round and round and couldn't stop. I felt extreme panic like my stomach was having extreme butterfly's and my skin was torn off and I was emotionally naked .

The physical sensations were the worst.

But then I looked up and Oscar the grouch was in a cloud on the top corner on my room sitting in his trash can screaming at me saying awful things I cant really remember.

Then my mom came in because I was screaming for help crying because I didn't know what was happening.

She said it was a bad dream but I saw him when I was awake.

I'm sure I was awake because he was there even after my mom held me in her arms.

He only went after my mom asked me a few times if I could still see him . And after she told me she couldn't see him so he must not be there.

Also I remember my sister even came to reassure me he wasn't in the room.

It was very scary for me.

I think I may have been taking to much medication and had a bad trip.

Ive never taken illegal drugs, so I'm not sure.

What do those of you who have taken drugs think?

Does it sound like a bad trip?

It does sound like a trip. Bad trip? eh...

Did you have a fever at the time, do you remember? At that age the barrier between fantasy and reality is very fragile.

At least you remember it in such detail. There's a very fragmented memory that I have that I can't tell if it was a dream it if it really happened when I was about that age. The details are inconsequential but every so often I get a flash of memory and I try to grab what I can from it.

I have memories from when I was very young.

Age aside, do you think what I was describing could be a bad trip?

a "bad" trip is one that when you're tripping, you feel that you're losing touch with reality and won't be able to come back or they're out of control and can't regain control.

But I can see how you'd think it was a bad trip.

Age might be important for determining how bad it was. To a kid, yes that does sound bad (I had several bad dreams about that Animal muppet, but now they don't seem that bad). I might be off though, because I have never taken medication that would do that to me. I didn't even know people could give children medication like that...they are very sensitive at that age.

I was definitely out of touch with reality. I was seeing a cloud and Oscar the grouch in the top corner of my room. And I was awake to see it.

I felt completely out of control I felt completely terrified. Oh and I forgot to mention I heard this loud noise that I cant really describe but it was deafening.

I was at the very least hallucinating. But I think it was more then that.

A bad trip can develop in many different directions. But yes, you have a pretty accurate description. (No, I quitted many years ago if you want to ask the question)

Well the medication I'm talking about is basically speed but in legal form. That's what alot of ADHD medications have in them.

I was sleeping at first but when I woke up the dream followed me . It was so very bizarre.

It was very terrifying and I can tell you if it happened today I would be just as terrified.

You were given an ADHD med at age 3?

That's really unusual.

Most professionals and even the companies say you shouldn't give MPH to kids before age 6 unless they're an otherwise uncontrollable danger to themselves or others because their ADHD is so bad.

Yes my family were abusive and they had corrupt doctors to boot.

It even says it in my medical records when I started taking the meds.
This is why I stopped ALL my meds at age 18.

just-me: If you saw anything not real, you were tripping. If you got scared by it as well, it was bad.

Exactly. Nothing boils my blood more than this kind of s**t.
At age 3, WTF?
