I've been watching some of the old X-Men cartoons recently, and I notice there are a few similar things said about mutants in relation to normals as there are between Aspies/Auties and NTs.

Just thought that was rather interesting. Anyone else notice that before?

If anyone wishes to see the episodes: http://www.youtube.com/user/novfiftn

It's mainly in the first few episodes that similar rhetoric is spoken.

When I was younger I adored that cartoon. The character "Gambit" was my fave (probably his Cajun accent), and I was very disappointed that he didn't make it into the Xmen movie.

He's going to be in the Wolverine movie coming out, I believe.

Also, when Mystique is scrolling through the names on the computer in (I think) the second movie, you may notice the name "Lebeau, Remy" slide past (along with "Lennox, Arthur" - the kid with the deformed head, who could communicate only through holographic images he projected, from the comic [I'm pretty sure neither Artie nor Leech made it into the cartoon versions]).

Hey! I just looked at a preview for the new movie, and I am so dissapointed! The movie Gambit looks nothing like the Gambit I remembered.

I remember Gambit had cool black eyes with red pupils, and was wearing something like a ski mask that covered everything but the top of his hair, and the front of his face.

This new movie Gambit just has normal eyes, and no cool mask-like thingy. He just looks like a regular guy, and not even very manly, either. Sad, sad, sad! I hope at least his accent is still sexy. :(

Well, to be fair, I think the half-cowl would look a touch out of place on-screen, since this movie is set before Wolverine joined a superhero team. A superheroic sort of outfit would defeat the purpose of the movie, I reckon. And the red-on-black eyes would require quite a bit of effects work, I think (red irises would be no problem, but the black sclera of the eyes would be a major problem).

As for his accent... I hope it's nowhere near as thick as the cartoons and comics have made it - and I really hope that the scriptwriters haven't "pulled a Claremont" and written him saying something in French and then repeating the exact same thing in English (Chris Claremont is the character's creator, in case you've never read the comics). That got really old really fast, I can tell you...
