I bowled a lot when I was growing up. I was on leagues from the time I was in grade school until I was a young adult. I was obsessed with bowling alleys. I used to draw bowling alley plans as a child. I was very good at bowling, but lousy at baseball and basketball, etc. I hated contact sports. So bowling fit me perfectly. Bowling gave me confidence---as did music. I have been thinking about getting back into bowling.
One might ask why I quit bowling as a young adult (in the early 1990s). One reason was that on the adult leagues a lot of people smoked. And the smoke smell really bothered me. I have extreme sensory issues with light, sound, and touch. But I guess smell is also extreme too. I know that if I am in the presence of a smoker for just a second, I can smell the smoke in my skin and clothing long after they leave. I can also often smell cigarette smoke from a car in front of me if they have their windows down and I have my heater or air conditioner on in my car. So the bowling alley got to be horrible for me. I also got some arthritis in my right hand so my hand often got hurting after bowling.
