I got a new job! :D The last time I had one was a seasonal job from last November/December, and I've been looking for one since. The unemplyment rate in Indy is 9.4, so you could only imagine how hard it is to find a job here, especially for an inexperienced twenty-year-old.

So anyway, here's what happened. About an entire month ago, I filled out an application and submitted it into one of my favorite clothing stores. However, the person I gave it to apparently just filed it and didn't bother showing the manager. I went back there today and asked about it, and the manager was unaware I had turned one in. But when she looked, there it was, under four other applications. She knows who I am and that I've been going there for years. And she already knew about my last job since it was in the same mall (just a higher up position though).

After that, she gave me the date and time for my job interview (Friday at 3:00) with Kimberly, whom I know extremely well. I've been talking to her there since around 2003 and we're like the best of friends whenever I go there. Earlier, she was joking around and said she'd have to do a second interview with me just to get in more conversations. lol So this job is in the bag. I've done two interviews before and passed both with flying colors. I had already gotten the job for both before the interviews were even halfway over.

Oh, and the manager was also satisfied with my hours, since I could work anytime except for Saturdays (because of my dental assistant training). I know all the products well, I like helping people, I *love* selling things, and I'm an excellent organizer. Plus I'd get an employee discount for all of my favorite clothes. Yay! :)

Again, my jaw dropped. Lightning, we all told you if you kept working at it and trying - something might very well come your way. See? you went back and asked about the application - that took guts. I bet most of those applicants never followed up. now you be a good girl and come to work early and don't steal stuff fromthe store ;) just kidding.

I'm very glad I went back and asked today. I had been thinking about going back to that mall for the past few days, and I decided on today since the weather was nice again. Today's, once again, been a really great day for me. I had a wonderful time at the mall, I bought flamingo stuff (which they finally had! lol), I got a job interview set up, all eyes were on me wherever I went in the mall (that's actually a common thing for me, don't worry,it's in a good way), and someone honked at me in the parking lot, thinking I was cute. The only bad thing about today was that there was a traffic jam on the freeway (my first one ever), but we all got through eventually. Some Ford Taurus had crashed or something. But other than that, today's been great and I'm so happy right now! :)

Hey Lightning88!

This is great news, Im very happy for you and I wish you good luck with your new job!
I have been without a job way longer than you and lately got tired on not feeling useful somewhere else than for only myself.. so I can only imagine your happiness. You was very strong and determined to go back and asked about your application, brave you! Thats the way to come somewhere in life. :)

Thanks! :D I actually didn't really have a problem with going back; I was just curious as to why no one had contacted me back, which I told them. I explained the situation and I think the manager felt bad for me for feeling ignored. But either way, I got a job out of it!

There was also another place that had told me if I couldn't find a job, they'd hire me. Today must've been my lucky day today! Well, I was wearing green, so luck of the Irish I guess (although I'm not even Irish).

I got back from the interview a little while ago. I think it went pretty well. The only annoying things were that my friend there wasn't doing the interview after all and they had apparently pushed it to 3:30 instead of 3:00 without telling me. That and it, of course, started pouring for fifteen miles on the way home. But like I said, I think the interview itself went well. She said I should get a call within the next week or two from the manager.

Good job Lightning! You did better than I. The HR emailed me about the job and the email bounced back. They looked at my resume and my phone number was not there!! !! I still might get the job if I do very well on the interview, but I should have seen this coming. This has made me feel a lot self blame and stress. :***(
