science fiction quest---help!! !

I am trying to find a story that I read in a science fiction literature class in college. I had thought it was a Ray Bradbury short story from The Illustrated Man---but I don't think that is it. Here is what I remember from it:

A man had invented an execution machine---it was a tattoo machine. The person to be executed was lain in the machine and the person was tattooed all over until they died. This could have possibly been in an anthology of science fiction stories. I took the class in the mid-1980s. I have looked in libraries for the story---but cannot find it. Anyone know what this story is?
