Ee-yew! They make you shower before and afterward. I'm glad I haven't been at a public pool in years.

And don't forget the fecal matter.

And the residue of children's vomit they don't drain the pool for, just cycle through the filter.
It's messed up that even knowing that (and other assorted horror stories from a neighbour who works as a swimming instructor) I still like the idea of going swimming. It seems peaceful even though I know better.

I never cared much for public pools. I'm lucky that my family has one at home. I mostly had issues with being in a swimsuit in front of so many people. The pool that I did used to go to with my friend in her neighborhood was exceptionally clean, however.

I always found it embarrassing to be in a swimsuit with a bunch of strangers. I just didn't like exposing flesh.

I haven't gone swimming for years now.

It's also really gross what's in that water.

No wonder so many people are getting sick. The last couple of times I was in a swimming pool, I got a nasty case of "swimmer's ear." I thought my eardrums were going to explode.
