... i find it ridiculous and quite frankly, ret*d. it's so contrived. i dislike ellen page because i get the feeling she's on a mission to prove to the entire world she's indie and hip (especially with that HBO show, "stitch n' b***h".)
but anyway, i think it's a lame attempt to purport "coolness".
who agrees?

It's popular because the people who like it were told it's the best of that year. They don't really watch movies so they don't know any better. I refuse to watch it because The Curious Case of Benjamin Button should have won that year.

I'm on the opposite side of the fence. I did not care at all for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button but I enjoyed Juno. I thought the movie was cute. I wouldn't say it's one of my all-time favorite movies, but I did enjoy it.

What I don't understand is why Napoleon Dynamite is such a popular movie. I really did not like that movie, and I don't understand its appeal. :?

Not having seen either of those I cannot guess, though judging from what I've seen through trailers I would much prefer The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. As for Napoleon Dynamite I felt like I was killing my brain watching it and didn't even chuckle lightly once.

Never heard of it.

I like Ellen Page, but did not understand why JUNO was so appealing.

BTW, Benjamin Button was released a year later.

Thanks for the correction. Either way, I was upset when CCoBB didn't win. Which brings me back to my original point: Juno was not the best out of the nominees for that year. There Will Be Blood should have won. No Country for Old Men was also... It's insulting that Juno was even placed on their level.

That's true for me at least. I found the movie very boring but I really enjoyed the soundtrack so I bought it.

I watched Juno, I know nothing about the actors and whatever, but I found the film to be boring and crap.

However, if you have some time on your hands to have a laugh at Juno's expense, read the abridged script here

What happened in 2007:

wikipedia wrote:
Juno is a 2007 comedy-drama film directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody. Ellen Page stars as the title character, an independent-minded teenager confronting an unplanned pregnancy and the subsequent events that put pressures of adult life onto her.

I stopped at comedy-drama film.
I continued just in case, it did fairly well on imdb.
pregnancy, pressures of adult life.
Why would I wish to be entertained by such things?
I'm going to go watch Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
Awesome.

I liked that abridged script better than the actual movie. It nicely nailed why I found it so annoying and boring. But with a good soundtrack.

I don't know why it's a popular movie, then again I don't see movies that often.
