Whoa now! You guys need to think this through.

my freinds get their shotguns and sniper rifles
You really don't want to get within the effective range for a shotgun. You wanna be poppin heads from a distance. I suggest hunting rifles, or even a simple .22 rimfire (you don't need firepower, you need accuracy). If you do get in close quarters, a simple 9mm sidearm should be effective. Shotguns are bulky.

by then i'd be up on the roof of my school
Death-trap. It'll be real nice until you run out of supplies. By that time you will have attracted way too many zombies to your locale to make an escape. You need a significant stockpile of supplies to hole up somewhere, and a couple trips to Wal-Mart is not going to do it.
Quote:
we will work our way through the school back to the landrover
But you will be surrounded! It could work if your school is very long (as opposed to square-like). Attract the zombies to the end opposite the vehicle and then pull a switcheroo.
A more advanced technique would be to set up some sort of sound device a few hundred yards away. When you need to make your move, remotely activate the sound device to lure the zombies away.
Quote:
then drive to southhampton, a big port about an hour away from my town, get supplies again, and then go out to sea untill we are sure that the zombies have died out, or run out of supplies.
If you've been up on the roof for a while, the port will be drained of supplies, and all the boats will be gone. Many people will be thinking the same thing.
The zombies will take years to decompose to a state of non-function.
Quote:
If I could, I'd go to an oil rig. They have fish, and are cut off from the rest of the world.
This is not a horrible idea, but it is unlikely the oil rig will survive the length of time needed to outlast the zombies. Also, other people will have this thought, and as such, the oil rigs will be crowded and unable to support their populations.

I live in the centre of a city.
You will die. Sorry.

The roof isn't going to do you much good if you're being hunted by Fast Headcrab zombies...
Fast zombies don't exist, ldo. Perhaps if our governments use a nuclear option they will become quicker, but they will still be dead yo. Dead people can't run. Let's get serious here.
Quote:
I would go to a remote island with my dog, 1 months worth of long life curry and a pile of good books.
This will be the thought on many people's minds. The islands throughout the world's oceans will become massively overpopulated. Even worse, any accessible shore-line will have to be constantly monitored for sea-borne zombies. They can't swim, but they can walk on the bottom, and some of them will float due to decomposition gasses.
Ok, so you're thinking, "VT, what should I do then?" I'll tell you.
Government bunker.
Now, you won't be able to do this early on unless you are in the military or government. However, 6 months in there should be a number of options available to you, as the government retreats to a handful of primary locations (NORAD, etc). There are missile silos all over the United States. Find yourself one of those bad boys, there is likely to be a very large stockpile of MREs, fresh water, etc.
So what do you do for the first 6 months? Find any sort of defensible position and make yourself invisible/silent. You need to first make sure you are well outside of large population centers. For Americans, remote areas in places like Idaho/Montana/Wyoming should work, but your goal should be the far north regions of Canada. Zombies will freeze in the winter due to the fact that they are essentially cold-blooded, which will give you at least a few months to re-supply.
For long-distance travel, some sort of off-road capable vehicle with ample storage is ideal. For short-distance travel, I would suggest a dirt bike.
And to wrap this up, a few texts to get you up to speed on the coming zombie apocalypse.
