Since International Towel Day is not found in most paper-based or electronic diaries, I thought it prudent to remind those who commemorate this day, so that you can have your towel ready when you leave home. :)

He, never heard of Towel Day before.
In the US however, this year May 25 is Memorial Day (last Monday in May.)

I carry one like that in my car.

I agree with Mr.Adams, it's one of the most useful items to have. Mine is light green so, in addition to using it to dry myself off with, I often use it to cover my fiddle case (which happens to be black), to keep the instrument from getting too hot when it's in my car.

One reason that International Towel Day is not so popular in the US is because May 25th is Memorial Day, a day when we remember all those we lost at war, something we should do every day, especially with the influx of fallen soldiers ever since 2003 while we get our revenge for 9/11 by going to war with a completely unrelated soverign nation that apparently has something to do with a 7 foot tall Saudi Arabian guy that lives in a cave in Afganistan and is on dialysis.

42 42 42

I took a towel to work with me.

I made sure that the vogons could not get into my office, I refrained from drinking a pan galatic gargle blaster and I did not go to a disaster zone gig.

Other than it being Memorial day in the United States today, it's also Nerd Pride Day.

Another great use to add to the list! XD

And pffff, I SO forgot it was memorial day. D: Wow. XD But yeah, Memorial Day is one of the ones that changes around.. it happens on the same weekend every year, but not the same day. I hope the soldiers all have their towels with them. I hear their feet get wet and it's pretty nasty. At least they should have cozy feet while they proceed to be awesome and heroic all day long.

Really? That's pretty cool! I mean, that's pretty nerdy. I would have had a hard time picking between whether to celebrate International Towel Day or Nerd Pride Day if I'd known they fall on the same day. Or maybe it doesn't make much of a difference. After all, how many people who celebrate International Towel Day aren't nerds anyway?

By the way, we had a pretty good Towel Day at my office. Only two of us celebrated it, but then only two of us have read Douglas Adams. The boss took a picture of us with our towels around our necks next to a big painting of a surrealist space scene which adorns the office wall. (When I uploaded the picture to Facebook, I tagged the painting in the backgeround as the "Restaurant at the End of the Universe".)
