Kan

It's Japanese for 'can'.

Huh?

Quote:
Likely from Dutch kan (“cylindrical metallic container”), with additional influence from English can (“cylindrical metallic container”). The kanji is an example of ateji (当て字). Alternatively, from Middle Chinese 罐 (kuɑnH, “can; jar; tin”). The usage of 缶 is likely due to a 新字体 (shinjitai) simplification from earlier 旧字体 (kyūjitai) 罐, where the phonetic component 雚 was entirely eliminated.

Okay, this was borderline a cheat, so how about...

kaminari
thunder

This is an easy word to remember, because it is derived from 神鳴り ("god's roar")

watashi
I, myself

I find it amusing that the word for 'I' is three syllables in Japanese. If you're being formal, you could even bump it up to four: watakushi. (This is helped somewhat by the fact that Japanese often leaves the subject implicit, so you don't use the word as much as in English. It's still very common though. 僕/boku is a commonly used word for 'I' as well, but that's still two syllables.)
