In the last couple of years I've been getting sharp, stabbing pains in my rectum during the first couple of days of my period. It usually happens when I poop or even want to pass gas. It hurts so badly that I have to stop what I'm doing and wince. I never used to have this problem, it's just occured in the last 2 or 3 years. Otherwise, I get no pain at all in my rectum.

I've been on the contraceptive pill since I was 18 (about 12 years) because of painful cramps and 16-day periods. So it's nothing to do with the pill.

Does anyone else get this? I don't get it with every period, but most periods I do.

I used to. It’s a pretty common symptom of endometriosis.
