To me lady is more like the word a small kid calls a woman, or what their parents say when referring to said woman. Like "get out of the lady's way" or "give the money to the lady at the till." I don't have a problem with the word, it's cute when used in the way I mentioned.
Also I like the word because these last few years when a kid is standing in the way, their mum will say "you're blocking the lady's way" instead of "girl" and it makes me feel grown up.
