I think sometimes males can not really understand what aspie women can face when we have to manage contraception or our own gynaecological affairs.

I know of quite a few as females who are on the injection, or the patch. executive dysfunction can make it very hard to remember to take a pill....

However, the study is real, so he does have a point with that. Anyone who takes any medication needs to be educated about side effects.

I am kind of confused as there are different things written about it. But I think that we need to do a lot of research when it comes to what to put in our bodies.

I had a terribly bad reaction to my one and only shot of depo.

Given the theory that people on the autistic spectrum have sensitive body chemistry I would not recommend the shot to anyone suspected (well, really to anyone at all)

I went on it to stop my periods. Instead, I now bleed three weeks out of every month (although this month is different because three weeks have passed and I'm still bleeding). I'm not getting my next shot. Instead, I'll try inducing anovulation (and thus, amennorhea) through low body fat.

I also hate the way it turned my skin into a pile of puke. I used to have perfect skin and now I look like I just walked out of ninth grade.

I've been on DP for a good two years now, its been good for me because I'm super forgetful. Without it I would more than likely get pregnant. With my periods, I don't usually get them. I usually have no periods for two months after the DP injection and sometimes on the third month I might get my period. When I do get my period I will get either a very light period that happens for a short time or a heavy period that lasts for three - four weeks (which is less common than getting the light period). I think irregular periods are to be expected when you go on DP

sooo anoying, i wrote a really long, detailed reply, and then my internet fell when i posted it :(

anyway short version;

TALK TO YOUR MUM!

I didnt talk to my mum, she knew i was getting contraception but we never really discussed it anymore than that.

so i got the implant cos i thought it was easiest, i was wrong. constant and irratic bleeding, irratic cramps unrelated to wether or not i was bleeding, irratic mood swing, also unrelated. in four months i had seven days with no bleeding the rest was anything between faint spotting and full flow.

i spoke to my mum, she told me shed had the same problems when she had it and had tried a few other things that didnt work for her before trying the injection which was perfect. i took her advice and went for the injection and its wonderful, no bleeding at all, no pain, no mood swings, no weight gain, no skin problems... i cant fault it at all.

however, i know other people who dont get on with the injection but who swear by the implant, and i also know that theyre mums were the same.

so, save yourself a lot of hassle, ask your mum what she used, if it worked for her theres a good chance it willl work for you too.

hope this helps, and sorry its not as well argued as my previous attempt but im tired so im not gunna try and redo it :/

oh and always use condoms, theres no injection for aids :)
