it seems alot of customer service/retail jobs, etc. tend to lean toward hiring women

This is why I hate job hunting. If I walk into a retail store, they are always going to want to hire me on as a cashier, instead of letting me do stocking or washing up...they force me to handle customers nicely, and it always turns into me quitting in frustration or the theater lobby scene from Ghostworld. I can handle flyering or canvassing, because I work off a script, but "providing excellent customer service" is not something I can do, at least the way they want me to do it.

I hate being a cashier too. My favorite days working at the dollar store would be when I was unloading truck and stocking shelves. Got my exercise in and I didn't have to be the sweet, uber-smiley cashier that I usually was. Of course, it was during one of these shifts that a 50-year-old Cuban man began to stalk me. D:

It's just as bad (if not worse) with waitressing. I only had to do this job twice but those few hours were hell. If the kitchen screws up the order, the customer berates you for the mistake. And more than one customer groaned because I was the "ugly" waitress. Combine that with not coming across well to people instantly and I got one dollar tips at most.

That's one job I'm glad to say I've never had. Being McDonald's b***h was pretty bad though. If someone at the grill messed up the sandwich, guess who got yelled at? MEEEEE! I get really mad when people call me a "dumb kid" right to my face.

Of course, then I would tell them that I was on the Dean's list twice in a row. Then they feel like the dumb one. XD

"When they do get hired, beautiful people tend to get higher salaries, better performance evaluations, are more likely to gain admission to university, get better voter ratings when running for public office and more favorable judgments in trials, she said."

I find this disturbing. I mean, I'm not completely naive and knew the reason men were generally nice to me, offered to do things for me, to give me rides, carry my bags, etc. was because I was little and pretty. It happens less now that I no longer look like I'm in my teens, but I still get some attention of that sort. However, thinking that my good reviews and steady raises, not to mention college acceptance, had anything to do with my appearance is upsetting. Hopefully not!

I always thought beautiful women have happier lives than uglier women. More money, better clothes, and most definitely more dates with men. A complete stranger can ask a beautiful woman out on a date. That type of women gets tons of emails and phone calls from men who want to date her. Look at the reality shows like Bachelorette. ALL of the women on there are so beautiful. I do believe that beautiful women get jobs way easier than uglier women. When you walk into an office, you want to see a beautiful women not some fat ugly woman sitting by the front desk.
