The best book of fiction I've ever read was 'The Island' by Victoria Hislop. Although the characters are fictional, the setting is real (an island called Spinalongo, off the coast of Crete, which was used as a leper colony). It's a family saga and deeply moving. I'd already visited the island, when I was on holiday in Crete and it made a huge impression on me. I'm not generally into fiction, other than fantasy/ sci-fi.

Aspiegirl7, do you think the Sookie Stackhouse series is getting bad, worse with each new book that comes out? I've gotten so disappointed. I really liked the earlier ones.
