Why do people consider being single ''immature''?
Well I never get criticised that I don't have a boyfriend, even when I was a teenager being surrounded by other judgemental teenagers. They criticised me because I didn't have any friends, but never because I didn't have a boyfriend.
Same goes for now. Obviously I have more friends than I did at school, but I still often get criticised by my cousins because I don't like going out on Friday or Saturday nights to socialise. I remember I said to one of my brother's friends (who is NT, and is a girl but not his girlfriend) that I don't have a boyfriend, and she just said 'so?' Not in a sarcastic way, I meant she said as if to say 'that doesn't matter, your time will come'. She didn't have a boyfriend either and she's 26.
I think where I come from, single people do not get looked upon. There's quite a few single people at work, but they are still socially accepted and are not considered immature. One young-ish woman said that she lives on her own and has no men involved in her life (except from general male friends) and she's never had kids, and nobody was bothered.
To be honest, I think it is immature to call single people immature.
