Speak for yourself, young man!

I go to the mall to walk when it's raining too hard to walk outside. I just clip through there, and thank goodness there's a decent espresso stand on the way there, because if I have a choice, I'll skip the Starbuck's. If I need something, I go right to it, buy it, and scram. The only time I enjoy shopping is when I have my grand-niece and nephew, and I'm buying them stuff. Stuff they need.

I can't see material consumption for consumption's sake. It seems like such a waste.

And what is it with the lighting? I get headaches in there, and an hour is my limit, too. I can get my walking done in that amount of time, thank goodness.

Metta, Rjaye.

I haven't been to a mall in years. Too many people, lights and noise. Someone said it made them want to pass out. I think they made me almost pass out twice, but it didn't get that far. I've only done that in the movie theatre and grocery store. I used to pass out quite a bit when I went into overload. Now I just avoid all of those places.

Women aren't the only ones I see shopping. There's plenty of guys at the mall too.

I hate malls, too stimulating. If I absolutely need something that I can't buy on-line, I go and escape desperately.

I don't like the mall, or really any shops. Too much noise, too many people, florescent lighting (usually)...bah! I get in, grab what I need and get out. I don't ever go just to look or window shop. I have a thing in my mind that I need and I go in and find it.

I'm the same with the grocery store. I can only really hold it together for long enough to get enough supplies to make dinner for one or two nights at the most. Ten minutes and it's time to get out. Unfortunately, that means I have to go to the grocery store many times each week.

Malls are so boring. There's so many good things sold at them; good things I can't get.

I agree with a lot of the stuff said so far; the lights glaring, the music, the screaming little kids (though I'm not pointing fingers because I certainly had my share of meltdowns when I was a kid), and all the crazy people make for an overwhelming trip.

That's usually why I grab my frappuchino and head to Borders or Barnes n' Noble. lol

I will only willingly go into a mall if there is a RadioShack or an electronics store or a game store. I do not go into malls to buy clothes, and definitely do not go into malls to "hang out."

Same here. I head straight for RadioShack or EB or some place like that.

lol. THat would be my kids. Imagine how the parents feel? I feel like havinga meltdown myself, but I have to "manage" my kids. This is absolutely the most difficult thing about being an aspie parent w/ aspie kids. It's impossible to go grocery shopping, which is an absolute necessity. I recently put my middle son into a second preschool so he now goes afternoons 4 days a week as well as mornings 3 days a week (only 1 day goes to both) just so I have more time to grocery shop w/ only 1 child with me. It's a nightmare! I have to go several times a week b/c if I try to buy everything for 1 week, I'm in there for 2 hours and I can't handle it! We deal with food allergies, so I have to read every label carefully and it takes an eternity.

oh, btw, I've actually joined a food buying club through united natural foods. THis has cut WAY back on my grocery shopping time as well as saving me money (we try to buy organic, probably wouldn't save much if you don't.) We order once a month and get bulk items that you can split with other members of your local group. SO I now just have to go pick up my order in someone's garage once a month. It saves me probably 2 hours of grocery shopping (for a family of 5) per week. I just have to go to the grocery store for vegetables mostly. I even get beef and dairy from local farms through the buying club. It's excellent.

If the security camera irritates you, walk up so it gets a really good view, then grin broadly and give it a quick, unobtrusive bird. If you're like me, it will cease to bother you after that.

Find a bench that has a good view of one of the more populated areas. Sit down, and go into observer mode. In half an hour, I guarantee you'll see so many fuckups and misfit toys that you'll feel normal by comparison.

Clothes shopping... there's really not much I can say about that. I hate it, and always have. Hehe. :P
