hot showers help with cramps - i imagine heat pads would be the same. Massaging the area also helps. Also try changing positions (if possible) ie if your sitting, lay down. Gravity does play an influence on cramps so try to change what direction the gravity is pulling in

When I had intense pain due to a complication of medicine, bayer was the only thing that relieved it. I would literally have to double over in pain before I took the bayer. I've been banned from taking Bayer now but I don't really get much cramps any more so it doesn't matter

Excercising that involves stretching will reduce your pain as it reduces your prostaglandins. You should make sure to do it starting a few days before your period and lasting the duration of it

Also alot of times cramps are caused/aggravated by bloating. You can reduce bloating by drinking a lot of water, because the more water you take in during your period, the less you retain

Also be careful what you eat - no crackers, chips, fried foods, anything with hydrogenated oils, caffeine, alcohol, smoking. What you should add to your diet during this time (if you don't already eat it regularly) is garlic, thyme, flax seed and ginger. Eating oatmeal for breakfast can also help
