schneekugel: Hopefully the NT test goes well! That's what it is, right? I'll be praying for you with that announcement. I never know how to deal with the touchy-feely congrats. Always feels so awkward! But I'm still super-psyched to tell others.

I'm not getting that test, BUT, I am definitely (weell, trying to) finding out the gender at 15 weeks on Dec 26th! I'm so very excited! First trimester is officially over as of Friday! I've been getting round ligament pains all the time now, and am definitely in maternity clothes, even though it doesn't look like I'm showing that much. Just waiting for gender and hopefully to feel baby move sometime soon. Already about 2 inches long!

I first thought, that you meant a test, if its neurotypical with the term NT-test ^^, but Wikipedia made me wiser again. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obstetric_ultrasonography

So yop its that test. The friend of mine who is as well pregnant and two months ahead already showed me pictures of that test, and instead of the early ones I got, where you need phantasy or medical knowledge to recognize the fetus, on her pictures it already looked fully like a little human being. As well does she and her partner know on accident, that me and my partner are pregnant, so they visited us spontaneous when they were at the christmas market in our village, and our friend recognized a information brochure, that I got from my gyndoc, when he confirmed my pregnancy. She is at the same doc, so she got the same brochures. ^^

I hope everything goes well for you at the 26 th decembre, so I have heard, that if the baby refuses to be in a "photogenic position" it can last until 6th month, until the doc might recognize the gender properly. ^^ So I press my thumb for you. :)

I feel with you, about feeling the babies move. I felt so secure after the last reassuring of the doc, that everything is ok, but that has been now for weeks, and I am afraid again if everything is alright and fine. So some regularly punshing babyfeet, sure would help, taking that insecurity of me. I am even happy, about me feeling bad in the morning (Have not puked that often, bad actually feel bad sometimes.), because according to the info-brochures the doctor gaves me, its at least a sign of my pregnancy hormones being very high, which they would not be, if something was obviously not alright. :)

I think you mentioned it already, but the thread is so long, do you already have baby names for it, when you know about the gender? My partner and I made it that way, that he was allowed to name it if its a boy, and I if its a girl, but with the partner getting a "Oh god, that name is horrible ugly."-Veto. Actually they will be Lars or Saskia. :)

The "NT test" which I assume you mean ultra sound does not always show deficits in the child and it does not show if the kid will have autism or ADHD or learning problems.

I didn't start feeling my baby move until I was around 20 weeks. This time I started feeling it at 17 weeks. it just feels like bubbles moving and I know it's not my stomach growling. Sometimes I feel twitches down there. I hear you feel your baby sooner when it's your second child.

Schneekugel: Awesome! Yea, lots of ladies in my due date group are getting the NT test done- and several were able to be told the gender during it too! As I said, I'm not getting that test, which is a good thing cause I"m already practically 13 weeks- tomorrow is start of 2nd Trimester! YAY!.

The plan was/is to name my firstborn girl Stacey Danielle after my two best friends who I've known over half my life and have been there for me through everything that matters- good and bad. HOWEVER, recent evidence suggests we're getting a boy... and for that I have no clue. I LOVE the name Patrick Devlin, but hubby won't hear of it. We've got some work to do. lol

As for what happened....

Well I went into my 12 week appointment, and we couldn't hear baby on doppler. Appearntly, if baby is silent on doppler, I get to have an ultrasound! So yay! Surprise ultrasound! I was so caught up looking at the heart (beating) and the brain and spine that I could see, I totally forgot to look for sex... but then hubby recorded some of it, and took pics (the machine was not hooked up to a printer) so.... I got to see baby! And I think, most likely, it's a boy. Here's the pics from the ultraosund hubby took: http://imgur.com/a/pVRey#0

And here's a video still screenshot that convinces me: [img][800:800]http://i.imgur.com/CCaHUhH.png[/img]

Huh, I liked to have a video too. My partner is said, that he cant be with me next week, at the detailled ultra-sound test. I hope I can do a video for him too. :)

Feel better again, because I could as well see my little one today. Had that annyoing funghal infect again, so I did a short visit at the doc, and when I was there on occasion, he checked if everything was still alright. :) Makes me feel better again. :)

You could do the viking method and ramble with your partner after birth for the right of namegiving, if it is really is a boy. ^^

We didn't get much of a video. Hubby took it, cause my midwives' ultrasound isn't hooked up to a printer. He focused on the pictures, so the video is only like 19 seconds long. I would have liked more video. I can always make screenshots :)

Aww! Yay! Seeing Little One is awesome. I can't wait until the 26th! Just 13 days away now! I'm hoping those days continue to zoom on by. Haha.

Maybe... At the moment we're trying to work together to find a name we both like. There's some possibilities I'd be happy with popping up. And I'm still holding out hope that baby is, in fact, a girl. At least until the 26th. It could happen. It'd be surprising, but could indeed happen.

Oh, yes, and I'm now in the 2nd Trimester! Heck yes! Still fairly tired, but I don't usually need my naps anymore, I just sleep for a solid 10-13 hours now. So that's some improvement. Don't feel very nauseous, in fact, we went to a buffet yesterday and I was able to eat quite a bit! That was very nice. Haha. I have had "lower back pain" specifically located in the tailbone- that was no fun. Now I'm just dealing with a headache. Which, isn't too bad afterall.

Our pregnant friends, know now as well to get a girl. The becoming father was issuing a bit (not in an earnest way), because of him playing football in a club, and so he had hoped to become a son, that he could have teached all his tricks. We did some jokes about it, that he shall not bother himself, because there are actually as well pink football shoes existing. XD

After our company-break during christmas, there will be my new coworker that I need to teach about my job. I am so happy about it, because I have still lots of free holidays, that I could spent, before going into baby-holidays, and with the new coworker helping, I can actually start reducing 1-2 days a week, to have a bit more rest and sleep, and do some planning for the kidsroom, that we still need to built. :)

How did you mention the news of your pregnancy to your families? My partner thinks of it of great news, that he wants to announce officially, with everyone around, and showing ultrasound pics ... but I feel very uneasy about it. Actually, we dont have a kid yet, but "only" a pregnancy. I thought of normally informing closer family by occasions before christmas, but he thinks of that being to unpersonal or whatever. I dont know, whenever friends of us announced to become pregnant, they never made a big show about it, at least not among us friends, but simply told by occasion to be pregnant, without any "big bang effect" or official announcement or whatever. I simply feel uncomfortable about, its as if we were mentioning to have acchieved something really admirable, that everyone should know, when actually it does not feel that way to me. Its hard for me to know about his family reactions, because they are so opposite NT/extrovert to me. -.-

Is it normal to announce pregnancy "the big way" among family?

I think it's normal to announce how you feel comfortable announcing. In my book, I AM a mother, and became one the moment that I conceived. Even if the most terrible thing happens and baby doesn't make it, it is still my child. Luckily, that doesn't appear to be an issue at the moment. For this reason, and also because I can't keep a secret for long, I immediately told close family (mom, dad, sister, grandma, his family, and a few friends) the moment (or, within an hour of) getting the positive test. From there it was considered "classified" information until my 6w4d ultrasound, at which time we announced formally on Facebook through a cute poster that said "Preparing to be a mummy" with me holding a pumpkin that said June 2014."

As for individual announcements, we made as big of a deal out of it at we could on short notice. Haha.

But that's me. If you are not comfortable doing so, then you shouldn't feel pressured into it.

I'm about 19 weeks along and my appointment is tomorrow. I am not sure when my ultra sound will be. I think they will schedule it tomorrow at my appointment. I have never really announced it except on Facebook by posting a picture of my 15 week belly. Only my husband knows and family and my aunt and uncle and in laws and their family. I am not big on announcements.

Had the NT check at Thursday and my regular gyn-doc meeting today.

According to NT-test, everything is fine and as broad and long, and as intense and thick and knows hell what, as it should be. :) It´s now 5,2 cm from head to "rearside", I think thats two ´´ inches in the US system. :) The baby even moved its hand once and then turned away to show us his back from the side. ^^ Already pretty shy and avoiding cameras, just like the mum. XD Sometimes, doctors already are thinking to recognize the gender, but because of my one being so shy, there was no real chance for it. As well that, because of the coming christmas holidays, I had to do the test a bit early, so if I could have done it two weeks later, maybe it would have been easier. :)

Doc said its a good sign if it´s reacting somehow to the ultrasound, because it means that it is in small amounts able to react to sensory inputs and already can instinctively move a bit. :)

And got my first real pregnancy trouser yesterday. I wore in the morning the largest of my ex-jeans, that are not elastic at the waist, and after a while of sitting in the office, it was hurting a bit at the belly, so in the lunchtime I jettet to a nearby shop. I really need to go search that weekend in internet for second hand cloths, 40 EUR for the cheapest trouser in a low-budget shop. O_o So I dont have troubles affording it, but I simply always have in mind, that I will only be wearing it for some months, so that I could spend that money instead much more useful for the baby. :) Specially when it comes to external cloths, that can be washed hot, I really dont bother for them being worn before.

League_girl- You sound so patient! Haha. I will die if I don't get my 15 week ultrasound. Hopefully baby is responsive.

Schneekugel: Your doctor said responding to the ultrasound has something to do with sensory non-issues? Does that count if asleep? My little one was just sleeping through my 12w5d ultrasound, didn't move at all. I wonder if that is true in sleep or not.

Also, so happy to hear the NT scan went well! You did seem to get it a bit early, but it's ok. I'm sure you'll be able to see the gender when you try. So far, out of 15 girls, only one has had issues finding out the gender in my due date group, and when they brought her in the next day they found out it was a boy :)

I'm freaking out! 6 days till my ultrasound, and I"m just praying it's able to happen. We've had our insurance turn around and tell us taht we have to pay them about as much as the ultrasound... and while we may be able to get that money once, it's really too close to dream of getting that money twice over... but not giving up yet!

He did not mean it in the way, that it was a bad sign, if there was no respond. But when he moved, he laughed short and meant, that they sometimes do so during the test, and that if it happens it would be a good thing, so it does not happen every time, but when it is actually feeling disturbed by the ultrasound, it means that he must have recognized something, and if it has recognized something, it seems to be able to instinctively feel and react to sensory input. I had to do it that early, because many doctors are on holidays after christmas, so before and afterwards, they already were full of schedules. But its not that bad for me, so I have a monthly standard check in my health insurance, next date would be I think the 17th January, and maybe it has then already developed that much, that my normal gyn can as well tell me. :)

I fully intend to have children, just not right now while I'm busy working on my degree. Once I've finished college and settled into a stable career, I will start family planning. Hopefully I'll have kids in around a decade or so. I won't be conceiving, however. Autism isn't the only inheritable medical issue I have by a long shot, and I don't want to pass on my genes. I'm a lesbian, anyway, so standard reproduction isn't going to happen whether I want it or not.

Frisco- Actually... maybe not as impossible as you think. Hubby found somewhere in a science tech magazine that we now can take bone marrow stem cells, make sperm out of them- yes, from a female, and impregnate a woman with them. I think this is probably a very expensive and painful option, but it is now appearently an option. Just FYI. But I can understand not wanting to pass on genetic issues

Leauge-girl: Oh yay! Hope it goes well! I don't know when my next ultrasound is... but I can't wait to see him again either way :D

Yup, Dec 26th after Christmas I turned 15 weeks and hubby let me get a gender ultrasound for my Christmas/Birthday/Aniversary gift. We are certainly having a little boy, and though I wanted a little girl originally, I'm pretty dang excited about my lil guy now. Haha. I can't help it. he has the most adorable profile in the world!
