I collect Barbie and other dolls similar to her size. I like how she always wears cool clothes.Haha, I cut her hair too, and also the Bratz dolls' hair. I never liked the Ken dolls , I only liked Barbie because she was pretty and I liked touching her hair. I enjoy stroking long hair in general.

I think it was just a matter of pretend social interaction that I had complete control over. I couldn't screw up and be laughed at because I was both people in the interaction. I think this is why I play The Sims now.

I'm the same way with the sims :D That's funny, I never met anyone else who compared The Sims to playing dolls.

It really clicked for me when I learned that the designers were inspired to create a game that was like a computer dollhouse.

Which Sims games do you play, and which ones do you prefer?

I have the whole Sims 1 and expansions, the Sims 2 Double Deluxe/Apartment Life, and The Sims 3 ( no expansions).

I actually like the graphics and setup of the Sims 2 better than Sims 3.

Also, do you like to go to the EA website and download the custom sims? They have awesome characters on there, like I found a cool Marie Antoinette and Taylor Swift sim on there that I put on my Sims 2 game.

I found Sims 3 never clicked... everytime I try it I just get bored of it really quicky. Sims 2 held my attention on and off for years though.

I was really disappointed with Sims 3, you don't have enough control over your sims in that one.

I used to love Polly Pocket and doll house type toys like that, I really loved playing with dolls in houses. I wasn't really interested in Barbie until I was older, and by that time my parents felt that I was too old for it, so I only had a few dolls and kept them hidden in my room. Sometimes I would take them to school and play with them in my desk.

I thought so, too, at first. But you can take their free will away just like in Sims 2.

Oh, Barbies ... I did have a bunch of Barbie junk, but I only played with them because that's what was given for me to play with. I remember in 2nd grade I brought one in for show and tell and took the dress off for everyone to see. The teacher was so pissed that I did that. :P

I never played with Barbies too much. My mom said I would just take their clothes off and throw them aside. I did like dressing them up, but that was the extent of it. I've always preferred digging outside in the dirt than doing "proper girl things"

I had few Barbies; most of my toys were stuffed animals and those creepy real-life-baby-toys, lmao. for some reason I loved those things! I had a little group of imaginary friends too.

oh! I did have a my size princess barbie! I only wanted it for the dress it came with though. I guess I can hold Barbie accountable for making me obsessed with wearing pretty dresses.

I have never played with dolls (well, I remember putting them to sleep and leaving them for weeks there) and Barbie dolls are simply terrifying to me. They are so out of proportion.

Oh wow I just read this and feel the same too I didn't give them up till I was 13 by the time I was 8 my father and his wife were saying I was to old to be playing with them I think it just annoyed them that id rather spend time playing and talking with the dolls then them lol.
Also I love the Sims now that I have thought about it its probably the reason I like playing it too.

I love Barbie

Although as a child I preferred Sindy because she was a British girl and had more realistic features, but I had one old Sindy doll who was the Cinderella of my dolls so always worse horrible cloths and had her hair cut short...a few years later I felt guilty and she ended up being treat better than any others, with the exception of a doll who I think was a friend of Barbie's little sister who looked like me.

I would always go to town at Christmas to buy a new doll, best being the Teen-Talk Barbie, and every year at Christmas my aunt and uncle would buy me a special edition Barbie too, with the exception of the last year they bought one for me when they bought me a Paul doll (Sindy's boyfriend - I always hated Paul, he seemed too smug) to match the special edition Sindy my mother had bought me - this was my first ever boy doll so my Barbie's were no longer lesbians!

I probably played with them for FAR longer than I should have age-wise, into my teens...I'd have the dining room to myself to play with them, I knew I was too old for them so I hid it a lot...but then at that age I knew I was 'different' so didn't let it bother me too much, although as an adult I love Barbie too - having little items that remind you of your childhood, a simpler and happier time, I think it's healthy to have this little guilty pleasure. If I had the money I would spend SO much money on the collectable Barbie's from http://www.barbiecollector.com/ like this one;

When I was born, I had black hair. When I was 2, it grew out flaxen blond. My mother refused to get my hair cut so I had this long, straight, thick blond hair. Much like barbies. I hated it. All I wanted to do was play sports and because my scalp is so sensitive, my hair would get pulled and it'd hurt like a mofo. I hated it. So, it's little wonder why all my barbies had their hair cut off and their bodies drawn on. When I got cabbage patch dolls, they received the same make-over.

When I hit puberty, my hair darkened to a bright auburn so my mother stopped playing with her little barbie doll and I could explore who I was a little more.

My daughter had to ask for dolls. It never occurred to me to give her barbies or baby dolls as a gift. So she and my step-daughter (same age) have a few of that kind of stuff to play with. They still spend most of their time outside playing soccer, skateboarding and throwing the football. Girls will be girls. :D

I played with Barbies growing up, and I also cut their hair. I found that one actually looked better with shoulder length hair.

I was a dark-brown-haired girl, and wanted Barbies with brown or black hair.
I had several of them.
They all had lovely tans, too.

I didn't realize until I was an adult that all my Barbies were Hispanic and Asian.
(I am neither.) They didn't sell white brunette Barbies back then. None that I can recall, anyway.
I do remember wondering why Miko's eyes were shaped different...
