I tend to see my flaws as enhancements. I would never want to be perfect.

I wear makeup if I'm going out, but not if I'm just hanging about the house.
I'm conservative with it, though, and my husband says I look the same with or without it :?

Make-up makes me feel like a liar.

I feel the same, is like pretending to be someone else.

Exactly. Make-up is a mask. I get that some people are proud of masks, but I'm not.

well, clothing can serve the same purpose as makeup. most people don't actually wear ill-fitting sacks, but instead choose clothing that fits properly and suits them at least slightly.

and even fewer people let their hair grow out without cutting or styling it. people choose hairstyles according to lots of reasons, but it isn't too common to find someone who doesn't care about their hairstyle at all.

many things are fake if we dig deeply enough, i think.

I wish I could think of my flaws like that. I don't see how having blemishes on my face could be seen as an enhancement, especially since I'm so pale to begin with. >.<

Covering parts of your body that are illegal to show in public and cutting your hair is hardly comparable to hiding perceived flaws on your face.

Make up as a mask serves it purpose.

Meh, I've got adult acne. I clean my face regularly, but they persist. I have oily skin.

How are they an enhancement? They are part of me, and anything part of me is an enhancement. Covering them up denotes shame and would be lying.

Um...I don't think "anything part of me" is a qualification of an enhancement. What if I were to have cancer? Would my tumor be an enhancement? Should I not cover it up?

In certain contexts are correct, but the way I wear clothes and cut my hair... it's exactly the same reason I wear makeup. My hair frames my face to make look thinner. The clothing is chosen not only to keep me warm/out of jail, but to hide my fat rolls. My bra is lovingly referred to as my anti-gravity suit. My (light) application of makeup gives enough of a change of appearance to give me more confidence when I leave the house, and so is also, I suppose a lie. Buck-naked, straight out of the shower, I look much different than I do when I leave my house. But if that wasn't the case, I probably wouldn't leave the house.

No, you shouldn't cover up cancer. Cancer can kill you, and should be treated.

I won't say much else on that topic, since cancer is something that hits too close to home for me.

See, that's not what clothes are to me, and I don't style my hair to hide flaws, either. In fact, I merely brush my hair and move on.

But you're right, in the right context it is exactly the same

Yeah. The only one I agreed with was ApsieGuy. I miss that adorable hobbit and his screwed up views about women.

There's nothing wrong with a woman wearing makeup if she likes it.
It doesn't make her a liar. It doesn't mean she's ashamed of her face. And it's not the same as wearing a mask unless she's got some kind of Tammy Faye Baker thing going on.

I think you're taking my opinion personally.
