tocophobia?
Yep, even some NT women aren't cut out to be parents, just look at Casey Anthony!
She may not be an aspie but she's far, far from neuro-typical. She's a real sociopath and pathological liar. I still cannot believe the prosecution screwed that up.

It's disturbing when a criminal trial is more about the attorneys involved than it is about, you know, that silly concept called guilt or innocence.
Sorry for hijacking!

IMO- the only reason the jury acquitted her is because she was "too pretty" to go to jail- Some (but not all NTs) seem to have a really poor sense of judgement. They knew she did but but could not bear to see this "hot mama" in prison.
Ugh!
While I can not address your phobia (I am not a mental-health professional), I think that I can safely state that slow social development is the hallmark characteristic of having Asperger Syndrome, and that this one characteristic alone has the most influence on everything else in our personal environments.

I disagree that "beauty privilege" played a real part. I think the charges were too ambitious. The jury could not find her guilty beyond a doubt based on the evidence and arguments before them (not gut feelings) and that is what they had to do. The prosecution should have applied charges that they had the evidence to prove beyond a doubt. Most of what they provided was circumstantial and implication. That isn't how our justice system is supposed to work, especially when someone's life is on the line for allegedly killing a child. So, I'm not entirely sure what CaroleTuscon is on about in her comment, since trials are entirely about how the lawyers do their jobs to prosecute and defend. There is no "innocent". There is a strategy here and when you have someone who is clearly out of their mind, you want them off the streets. The prosecution tried to accomplish this in a way that would provide themselves glory, instead of aiming for what would get the job done. There's an old story about a dog with a bone who sees his reflection in the water and loses both bones trying to grab for the imaginary one.
Another good reason to not have children is if you are easily overcome with fears and nervousness. You are charged to protect this little life and this world is full of sickos who will try to kidnap, maim, molest, and murder your child for no other reason than to do it. It's not easy to remain calm as they grow up and become more independent. Some people complain about how kids have cell phones when we never had cell phones but, you know, it's something great when I can reach my kids at any time and they have the ability to call 9-1-1 if needed. This is especially important in school when children now have drills for fire, tornado, Code Adam (a child that's been abducted), and Code Red (a shooter killing students on campus).
Excuse me? I wasn't "on" about anything.
"Innocent" means you didn't do it. Not difficult to understand. You either did it or you didn't.

You weren't talking about anything? You mean, someone used your account to write the comment that was under your username? What are you on about now?
There's no "Innocent". There's "Guilty" or "Not Guilty". Not difficult to understand. Maybe you should drop the attitude.
I think I sort of used to feel this way...not to the point of being phobic, but a little disturbed about pregnancy, and VERY freaked out at the idea of actually giving birth. I had younger siblings, so babies and young kids didn't bother me, but I didn't have any maternal instinct for a long time. I married my first husband with the idea that "oh yeah, I'd want a family someday" but that day never came with him. We separated when I was 28, and I still had no urge to be pregnant or have kids. It was a totally foreign concept. If someone asked, I just told them I wasn't ready. (More and more women are having kids in their 40s, after all). But for a while (before meeting ex), I remember telling some people I'd never have kids. They said I'd change my mind, and I said okay, whatever.
When I was 31 or so, and had been with my now-husband for a couple of years, I did change my mind. I wanted a family, and I forced myself to get over the fears. I have two very-wanted kids now. I may have had more, but the second birth was kind of traumatic (oh the irony - I had a wacky complication) so I'm done.
I don't see why it's anyone's business if you don't want kids (except your husband - that's another issue). I do take some offense to the breastfeeding comments - if you don't want to see, don't look. But I understand it being difficult for some people, when our culture is not used to seeing it routinely.
Even if you did change your mind, it would not be NOW and right NOW you don't want kids. They should shut up about it. If you don't ever want kids, that's okay. I have no idea why people feel it's necessary to pressure others. Maybe I can understand some parents doing it to their adult children if they're selfish enough to continue pushing for grandchildren; but, people who have no business saying a thing about someone's reproductive choices stick their noses in.

Good lord. Maybe you should calm down.

I don't think I'll ever change my mind. I know my limitations and I'm only capable of raising my pets. The reason NT women pressure us into having children and getting married is because if you don't do any of those things, then you are considered selfish or weird to them.
Jillian Michaels wants to adopt children instead of getting pregnant because she has some female health issues that she feels make it impossible for her to conceive. And Ann Coulter calls her a narcissist for doing that...what a b***h!!
Shame, really. Isn't adoption exactly the opposite of being selfish?
Personally, I think that it is narcissistic to want children only because they are a symbol of social status and/or one's only achievement in life. Half of the women I know gave me exactly these reasons for having their kids, they only sugarcoated it a little.

Exactly, just because you adopt doesn't mean you are considered a freak to society!! I personally, would be scared of getting pregnant, too!
