I'm more than happy to agree with this.

Think: Mennonite Christian vis a vis mainstream Jew

Versus: Mennonite Christian via a vis Hasidic Jew.

Kraftie, I like you and I don't think you quite meant it like that, but you just equated anyone who suggests that there are human rights that are not extended to men with people who earnestly think all men are problematic and who are very keen on finding a "final solution".

Human rights should be extended to all. Equally.

Couldn't agree more.

Ya know what might work? When you talk to somebody who pisses you off with their ideas and beliefs and opinions, just stop talking to them. Unless they are family or you work with them, it's pretty easy to avoid that s**t.

I don't give a rats ass who is a misogynist, a feminazi or what ever. I might argue with them on here, but so what? And as for those pick up artist type guys, oh please. They so remind me of late 80's lounge guys. They are so cheesy that the chicks they get are just with them ot use them cause they think they got money or drugs, and they deserve it for trying that BS. Lines are one thing, but studying it like that to be a master pua, hilarious.

So, if you are offended, WALK AWAY. Don't post if you don't like what somebody is saying, or argue with them, I don't care, either one. But stop complaining about what other people think when they aren't actively doing something to you, ok?

Cause it's really kind of a pantywaist thing to do and doesn't accomplish s**t and also folks won't listen to you when you have something real to complain about.

I'm just saying....

I used the word "pantywaist" in a staff meeting recently and people were astounded. I told them it was a better word choice than the obscenity I was substituting it for.

Well, it's a synonym for "sissy", isn't it? Which, if I'm not mistaken, is kind of a sexist/homophobic term and therefore not really that much more acceptable than swearing in the workplace, I would imagine.

I looked up the definition and the synonyms listed are: "A weak or effeminate male; pansy"; "Informal. a weak, effeminate man; sissy"; "weakling, milksop, namby-pamby"; "a man or boy considered as childish, lacking in courage, etc". Those all sound pretty sexist to me.

I think I was using it to refer to the governor of my state. I hold that language used to criticize politicians is always acceptable.

Edit: no wait, I was using it to refer to a manager two levels up. And weak, ineffectual, cowardly etc. truly do describe the man.

See also, "Do people call you blunt?"

Why not just call him a pansy fa***t then? Also a synonym that expresses the same sentiment. I wonder what kind of reaction that would get from people, and why?

That would be a double insult.

Not really, as for most people "pansy", "pantywaist", "fa***t", "sissy", etc. are synonymous--which was my point.

Using more than one insult intensifies each singular insult.

Not sure why you're going on about this point when it's totally irrelevant to the discussion.

I'm trying to work out what comes between the a and the t in fa***t? And why should I call him a pansy fa***t when I used a perfectly fine word that I like, to wit, pantywaist?

Unless you are ESL (english as a second language), then I highly doubt you don't know what word I mean that begins with "fa" has three letters in the middle and then ends with "t" and is a synonym for words like "sissy" and "pansy". My point was that a lot of people see words that have sexist undertones and are designed to make men feel bad for not being "male" enough as not ok--especially not in the workplace--which might be why you got the response you did.

Don't talk down to me, Wilbur. I know the people in that meeting, you don't. They just found my word choice funny and fresh, they did not find it sexist. Oh and a little daring, since I was talking about a general manager we all know well and do not respect.
