Sometimes. I have a funky fashion sense and I love finding stores that cater to that different look I'm going for.

Yeah, I'm the same way. I have sensitive skin and am overweight, so a lot of clothing doesn't work out for me. Even if something is soft and fits me, it might become full of weird little itchy fuzzies. I don't know if it's the material or if it's not being washed correctly. :<

I don't really care much for clothes shopping. I never think to go (unless it's out of complete necessity) and when I do go, I get really overwhelmed by everything. For me, clothes shopping is a chore, not something I would consider doing for fun. And it also doesn't help that I don't have oodles of money to toss around.

I volunteer in a charity shop, and we get loads of donated clothes in, and the women there go ape if they see an item of clothing they like. One woman last week found a jumper she liked, and she said, ''I will put it in a bag, and write a note on it to say that I'm taking it home.'' I shrugged and said ''OK then.'' And she done that, then went back to what she was doing. Then 10 minutes later she started flapping about the jumper. She said, ''oh I want to try it on now - I just have to!'' And I knew she couldn't think of nothing else but this jumper.

Anyway, let's cut to the chase here, does anyone else find clothes shopping boring? Does anyone else agree to have a shopping spree for clothes with your mum, then find yourself in all the DVD shops? It's true for me. I worry because I'm a female, yet I'm not one bit interested in clothes. I walk into a clothes shop then get all confused. I look around and there are women everywhere, just in their complete glory. They are in and out the changing-rooms, asking eachother to admire them in their chosen clothes. There's a massive queue at the till, with women holding about 5 items of clothing each. There are young women trying on boots and looking in mirrors to see if they look right with the rest of their fashionable clothes they're wearing. There's groups of teenage girls squeeling with excitement like they've never been in a clothes shop before. I just find it all so boring! I look at the bored toddlers wailing in their pushchairs and I feel like joining them (even though I wouldn't do it, since it's ''against the rules of age'').
I just tag along behind my mum, looking at everything but the clothes. She is admiring everything she passes, and is saying, ''oh this is nice. Oh, that's nice. Look, you'll look nice in that. Oh, I like this. I wonder if it will go with my new trousers...'' and all the while I'm just looking around, giving my ''flirty look'' at men, and looking at my watch, and looking towards the shop door, and just waiting to get to the DVD shop. I know is isn't normal to be like this at 20 years old, but I can't help it if clothes shopping isn't my cup of tea. I do like to wear trendy clothes, but I really can't bear going out to the nearest city and browsing and trying things on. I find it so boring, and plus I'm not very good at admiring clothes. I try to discuss with my mum about the clothes as we move along around the clothes shops, but I can tell she never listens to me because she turns very excited when she's in a clothes shop, and thinks she's the only one there. So I give up.

Does anyone else feel like this against clothes shopping? Or am I the only one?

I find it incredibly frustrating, never finding clothes that look good on me, or feel right. The last several years have been the worst, with the too-low waists and the wide legs, the ugly horizontal stripes of stupid colors together, the bulky heels on pumps.
The shopping as you describe is as you describe: confusing, funny, boring. It's like they're putting on a show of shopping for clothes. Thank goodness for internet shopping. I buy most of my clothes like that now. I do sometimes like shopping, on my own, or with my mother, but never with any friends. Poppycocteau in a post before mine said she might be disliked for being "snobbish" because she thinks it's a waste of time, it's vanity, indicates insecurity. In a way, I agree. Maybe I'm a snob too? I mean, if it's about what a man likes to see on a woman, then women should know, the simpler, the better. The fewer colors, the better. Otherwise you're shopping to dress for other women's envy, not men's eyes. Here's what I'm snobby about: those women who actually ARE snobs, but you can SEE their costume jewelry not real jewelry, you can SMELL (and sneeze) their discount cologne not real perfume. How can a woman be a snob in fake jewelry and discount cologne?
And I'm really particular about clothes, it's just such a waste that I can't find anything I like that looks good on me.
Book shopping! Now that's never a waste of time.

I really, REALLY hate trying new clothes on in the stores, especially pants or outfits where I have to take all my clothes off. And if they don't fit or look right I have to get dressed all over again and go and look for something else to try on, which I almost never have the patience to do. Maybe it's the awful store lighting, but my old clothes always seem to looked faded and tattered in the dressing room and of course every superficial imperfection on my body is magnified. When my mother takes me clothes shopping I know I must be a pain in the butt because I complain about how bad all the clothes look, how bad they would look on me because I'm a not perfect-looking mannequin, or if she shows me something she thinks is good that I nearly always wrinkle my face in utter disgust.
But I'm not that good at shopping alone either. I usually feel confused and lost and would give anything to just run to the toy or video game section and blow my clothing money there. :)
And I DO to look down on women who have to own hundreds of pairs of shoes or purses. I mean, how many of those things does one person need, anyway??? And I think any women who willingly wears high-heels which cause pain and permanent damage to her feet is a brainwashed stereotype. :x

I love clothes shopping...it just stresses me out.

I have no female friends to go with and I'm rubbish at putting an outfit together so it's a pain trying to figure out what to buy to wear together, I end up running round to lots of different shops trying to decide so end up looking/feeling gross, I hate trying things on because A. the mirrors always make you look huge, B. there is no fixed sizes so when you're a size 12 and can't fit into a size 14 it's a bit upsetting, I have a lot of trouble with guilt as I'm too poor right now to afford much so have to weigh up 'ooh, it's pretty!' with 'I can't really afford that', all the other people giving you funny looks or getting in your way, the queues to pay always being so long...etc. etc.

But generally I'm a bit of a shopaholic, buying things cheers me up, it's just the whole experience of shopping when you've not much money, worried about your increasing waste-line, and have other people to deal with that's the problem.

I've never enjoyed it, but it's much worse now. I'm plus sized and my friends are not, so if I go shopping with them, there's nothing for me and I feel even more conspicuous and uncomfortable.

I hated it back when I used to dress like a girl.
Now I dress like a boy. Much better!
Girls clothes are ridiculous! Stupid frilly junk. Pink! Dazzles! Even glitter. Never looks good, well, rarely.
I wear mens dress shirts, casual dress, jeans, belts.
And make up.
And you know what? It looks really flippin' good!
Kinda Annie Lennox~ish, but way hotter 'cause I'm way cuter. ;)

I would like clothes shopping much more if clothes grew on trees.
I would go to a quiet forest where the clothes trees grew and listen to the birds singing.
I'd try out the clothes in a hollowed out tree and tree and leave my money on the grass.
Or I'd pay for the clothes using berries that I'd gathered. I wouldn't have to deal with anyone at the till or anyone irritatingly tapping me on the shoulder asking if I was lost.

It'd be much less stressful that way.

I also wouldn't have an awful headache afterwards from listening to that awful Muzak.
The fresh air and exercise would also do me a lot of good.

I'd smell the flowers and look for mushrooms too.
I'd see squirrels and wildlife.

It would be so much more peaceful.

I'd have to go on a sunny day though: I'd get a bit wet if it rained.

I've always liked the idea of shopping, but I've hated the crowded urban reality of it.

I think there is a big difference in being interested in clothes, and liking clothes and buying clothes.

Cut with the gender stereotypes, plenty and I mean PLENTY of males enjoy shopping for clothes, just not with their girlfriends....Shopping for many can be therapeutic.

You're whole argument for being against clothes and shopping has so many flaws and doesn't really stand for anything. So many contradictions in it. Get better at proof reading and using this thing called "paragraphs" and logical, sequential reasoning.

I find clothes shopping in a store frightening and humiliating.

I find the enlarged airbrushed photographs of "perfect" people disturbing. I feel like they're looking down on me. I know consciously that I'm silly to get worked up about photographs, but my subconscious mind tells me to RUN! Their eyes seem to follow me around the room. Their eyes silently say to me: "You aren't like us. You aren't perfect like us. You don't deserve to be here. Go away."

This is stupidly paranoid of me. I know they aren't really alive, but I shudder just looking at them. The photographs of women on packets of undergarments and socks give me the heeby-jeebies. I find that I cannot look at them without becoming anxious. I am frightened that the women in the photographs will start being sarcastic towards me or will wrinkle up their noses with disgust because I'm not as perfectly and unnecessarily manicured as they are. I never wanted to be perfect anyway.

I find the mannequins very spooky also.

I become disorientated and confused in the crowds. I often can't tell who is real and who is not in this environment.

Go on. Laugh if you must.
This is why I hardly ever go clothes shopping.

Shopping for clothes is much more daunting for me than going to the haunted house at the fun fair. At least that experience was fake and not crowded.

Who's going to laugh?

I agree with you totally.
I do 95% of my shopping online.

No laughing here, though I get that "we're better than you" feeling more from the salespeople. I do most of my shopping online these days.

I like clothes shopping when it comes to collecting things for a cosplay or getting a new bathing suit. Other than that, I find it a bit more monotonous.

I hate shopping for clothes and usually only go if I'm looking for something very specific. Right now I need to go buy blue jeans but I've been putting it off because I hate trying on clothes.
I do not understand actually deriving pleasure from shopping for clothes - although there are some thrift stores that have interesting items of clothing that sometimes pique my interest.....hmmmmm.........

However, I will go shopping for books all day long!! !! !! ! Music too!! !!
