This kind of thinking is what fuels the witch hunt. You can't convict someone of something you think they might do in the future and just because you can't control your own desires it doesn't mean it's impossible for another stronger individual. At the very least they deserve a chance.

Once a person has been found to have a prefrence for sex with children they should be monitored for the rest of their lives with a tracking braclet and with daily call ins. Prevention is better than seeing a child who has been molested by a person who watched child porn who has now graduated to seeking out a victim to act out their sexual prefrence on. The child's life has been ruined but so long as the molester's rights have not been violated in a witch hunt.

When the mob are in a frenzy, they don't care who they attack, or what for. They want blood - even a paediatrician's.

So someone who is terrified of his own sexuality and lives life in fear is put in the same boat as a serial torturer of children.

This thread at least showed your true colors and your prefrences Tequila. The people who attacked that doctor at her home are the same people who would attack an Indian for looking Muslim or someone who is wearing the wrong football jersey. They will find any reason to attack someone they would probably attack me for having a pony tail, if I cut my hair they would attack me for being fat, if I lost the weight they would attack me because its Saturday and there is nothing to do.

Does that mean in that case that if I attack the government's alcohol price-fixing policy, that I'm an alcoholic?
Or that if I criticise the government's harassment of photographers, that I'm a voyeur?
Or if I think that I want to drink in a public park (which is illegal in Britain, but not in much of Continental Europe) I'm a violent hooligan?
Or that if I think that smokers are being demonised that I deliberately blow smoke into people's faces (I'm a lifelong non-smoker, BTW)?
Or if I like violent horror films then I'm a potential murderer?

I think projection is much closer to the truth.

I bet you hate it when parents ask you not to photograph their children. Do you argue with them its your right to do so because they're in public?

There was guy here that did that some concerned parent took his picture when he was out photographing kids at a playground. He molested a kid a week later but got away so the parent showed the people who chased him his picture and they identified him. The local cops knew who he was from past run ins with him because in America cops can ask you for ID and you have to present it. When they went to his house he had hundreds of thousands of pictures of children at playgrounds and local swim parks. How many pictures do you have tequila?

They're no different under the law than adults but people get very defensive over it - in some cases, understandably so (a guy hanging around a playground taking photos would justifiably raise suspicion, as might someone shooting children naked that weren't their own). It depends on context. And I, like most photographers, deliberately avoid photographing children - or even people in general. See my photostream (http://www.flickr.com/photos/lancashire/).

But I am sure there usually a kid or two caught in a photo of a see-saw, mary-go round, or a slide you are really taking a pictures of right.

Sensible debate with you is impossible. You're convinced that I am a paedophile when I've told you repeatedly that I am nothing of the sort - unfortunately, accusations of paedophilia are impossible to disprove to accusers so insistent on believing whatever they want to believe.

People like that usually have projection issues of their own to deal with.

You'd have fitted in very well around these parts in the early seventeenth century, Todesking, burning witches and the like.

Look, I'd had a lovely supper, and all I said to my wife was, "That piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah!"

*blink* Where to start... 8O

A film CANNOT change a persons sexual preference, and it can also not override a persons sense of morality.
If you were to see a hentai rape film does that mean you'd instantly go out and start raping little children?
If I watch a horror movie where someone is murdered...does that make me a murder too?

An innocent person should NEVER be punished.

Can a person help their sexual preference?
Can a person help that they were victims of childhood sexual abuse?
No, of course not, but you would see such people punished for this*, their freedoms taken away and their lives put at risk because of your own distaste for their situations - none of us like to think of paedophilia, but it's not about how you feel about them, it is about PROTECTING CHILDREN! * Obviously not all people who were abused as children grow-up to be paedophiles!

If a person was going to go the rest of their lives without freedom and being treat like scum then why on earth would they come forward? They wouldn't....

Now imagine you were not allowed to act on your sexual preferences, you spend every day feeling guilty about your feelings, you can't tell anyone or get help to stop yourself feeling this way...what do you think happens to these people? They go mental, they find ways of justifying their feelings to themselves, or they snap when an opportunity presents itself - this is how many paedophiles go from inactive to active, hell look at Catholic Priests for a prime example of this. Left long enough many paedophiles will abuse children, scaring them from seeking help or scaring them underground puts children at risk. You're disgusted at paedophiles, fair enough so am I, but what disgusts me more is this sort of mind-set and people thinking more about their disgust towards these people than thinking about protecting kids!

I also wonder when these innocent people are being monitored - who is monitoring the ones that no one knows about? Cost and man-hours that would go into monitoring people would be much better spent catching those who are abusing kids and punishing them. I'd also suggest that this is just an advanced version of stranger-danger - tell your kids not to go near X person because they're a paedophile, while forgetting to warn them about the stranger next door, their teacher or their uncle.

You are defending people's right to view animated images of child pornograpy do not try to make me out as the villan here. There is no need for sensible debate of whether it is right or wrong to view such things or for the need for their existance they promote children as sex objects which is horribly wrong no matter how you try to spin it. I have seen what child molestation does to it's victims and their families. I will leave it that. I have one less family member in the world do to her comitting suicide over what someone did to her at age nine.

The vast majority of people have a very different mindset about animation than they do about real life. I've viewed this "tentacle" type porn before and found it stimulating - but only if the woman was portrayed as enjoying it. Of course this is not realistic, and I would be horrified to see a real person in this situation, even if she did look like she was enjoying it. But it's a cartoon. I am fully aware with 100% of my brain that it's a fiction, a strange fantasy.

There is an extreme minority of people who cannot tell the difference or who would be influenced by this type of imagery to pursue such situations in real life, but these people are rare and their problem is not the pornography. They would have problems no matter what. And yes, the sort of person who really is interested in rape or pedophilia would certainly be stimulated by this animation, but I'd much rather they watched a cartoon than a real-life video, or god forbid, actually went out and raped or molested someone.

To say that hentai porn promotes violence/rape/molestation is also to say that Tom and Jerry or Wile E. Coyote / Roadrunner cartoons promote violence against animals, or that only murderers could possibly enjoy horror films. Any sane individual knows the difference.

That being said, if it bothers you, by all means avoid it. If it bothers you when someone watches it, that person is clearly not a good partner for you. But to say it should be banned seems like an overreaction to me. I'd rather devote resources to tracking down actual sexual offenders (who will be so regardless of what kind of porn is available) than to banning animated fetish pornography (which will continue to be produced even if made illegal, and simply be distributed illegally).

As for the original question, I would have no problem with a man who liked this type of porn. If he enjoyed watching women or children be hurt, or if he showed other tendencies towards sexual offense, then of course that would be a different story. But I don't fear cartoons, and I don't assume that someone who watches and enjoys Dexter is secretly a serial killer. Porn is no different.

I look forward to being scolded for my honest answer to this question and being accused of secretly being a rapist or pedophile.

I found the subject very interesting and hoped to see less hateful/more substantial discussion by moving it here. Considering how loaded the subject is civilised discussion free of personal attacks doesn't seem possible so I'll just lock it.
