A question of gender: Would you rather be male or female?
I'm more inclined to believe the police who at least try to back up their views with statistics rather than someone posting on the internet armed only with amateur psychology. Plus, I explained why in my experience it would have made everything worse - you decided to ignore that part of my post. And, ultimately, I still don't believe in violence.
Well, I know you dont believe in violence and Im not trying to convince you otherwise. But I do want to remind you of one thing: you CANNOT prove anything with statistics!. Statistics only idicate a greater or lesser likelyhood and more often then not, they have a tendency to be FLAT WRONG. I dont see my view as amateur psychology as much as I see it as basic logic. To me, basic logic and intuition a MUCH better tools to rely on in terms of ones best interest than alleged statistical studies.
Transgressive violence is something that many people actively DENY-because it doesnt fit their worldview and they are happier to pretend like it doesnt exist.
However, I don't have a problem with my body or gender otherwise. I don't even mind having my period; I find that going through a monthly cycle, and all the intense emotions that come with it, make me feel alive.
Well, sexism works both ways. Did you know that they basically replaced male phone operators with female ones, earlier, because they were more courteous and patient. Females ALSO get lower health insurance and car insurance rates than males, generally all things being equal. If I were female, my first car probably would have been a corvette, and I would have more money. I had to PAY for my first car because they LAUGHED at the idea of a boy getting insurance for a sports car.
Also, females are traditionally treated almost like queens in marriage, being able to call many shots, be dressed like a princess of sorts, and get a ring where it is all but LAW that the husband should pay 3 months income for it. If he cheats, and it is found out, he will be looked at as some cheap skinflint jerk. ALSO, in a divorce, in many areas, she usually has an easier time, and gets the better part of the deal.
Oh well, in many cases, the grass is always greener...
BTW it is great that you can look at some of the worst regular female concerns in such a great light.

Dink, I'm glad you knew how to use a knife in that situation. I used to wander around the streets at night as a teenager to help myself cope with stress and insomnia (I know this was stupid), and a friend of mine loaned me a knife that strapped onto my calf for protection. Aside from making me feel really cool, this accomplished nothing. I had another friend point out that if I was not at all skilled or comfortable using the weapon, it was much more likely to be used against me by a potential attacker. And that's not even taking into account the possibility of the attacker being someone I knew and would therefore have too much trouble bringing myself to harm physically.

It seems like the people responding to you have been using basic logic and intuition to do so: and not only that, but "women's intuition"- in regards to situations that women find themselves in- and personal experience about these situations that you yourself have not had.
As for me, I tend to aid my "intuition" of whether a poster is using emotion or "basic logic" by keeping a mental count of how many times they add unnecessary exclamation points, bolded text or random words in all caps. Your last two posts give you a score of -17.

How is it basic logic to assume that being armed INCREASES your chances of getting hurt rather than decreasing the chances that a predatory violent thug will go through with his plans to attack you??? The belief that being unarmed and basically defenseless against a man intending to RAPE you(and possible KILL YOU)-in fact the whole "turn the other cheek" approach makes the assumption the aggressor has empathy for you. But IF they HAD empathy for you and/or mercy then WHY would they be attacking you?!?! For example-MLK Jr. was a nonviolent person who preached turning the other cheek-what happened to him? He ended up Dying VIOLENTLY by the people who opposed civil rights! Why do you trust the Police so much? Women often DO have more empathy than men, but they shouldnt assume that VIOLENT MEN have the same kind of empathy-that is what I'm saying. If I a rapist and I approached a potential victim and she pulled out a weapon, I would back the f**k off-in fact if she had a gun I would RUN away quickly. If the potential victim did NOT have a weapon and admitted that she was unarmed upon me grabbing and tackling her-WHAT incentive would I have to Not rape her? Now I am Not a rapist nor would I EVER do something like that but it isnt hard for me to imagine how a person like that thinks. Now in my situation I was inside of a car when I pulled the knife out. Being acosted on the street a knife wouldnt be nearly as effective as a pistol or a Taser(thats why I suggested women carrying such).

I'm not saying no one could ever use it to their advantage, but some of just don't have what it takes to employ such a weapon when we would need it.
I guarantee you, if I was holding a gun towards an attacker, I would turn into one of those idiot women you see in black and white films:
"Don't come any closer! I'll shoot! I swear I will!" Until the guy walks up and grabs the weapon out of her hands, laughing, while the whole audience thinks, WTF was that?! !?
I just don't have it in me to use a weapon- I don't know if that's a female thing, or just me being a wimp- but I don't and I know this. The only reason for me to carry one would be as a bluff, and it seems like it'd be a rather dangerous one at that. I'd rather take my chances with running and hiding again.

Fair enough.
If you dont wish to carry and/or own a (concealed)weapon you dont have to. I was just trying to give an explantion on why its a good idea. I tend to argue with facts, not just facts but via reason. Many other people argue with assertion and EVEN when their logic is defeated, the STILL continue to assert "you're wrong". I guess Im just not very persuassive.

You're right, but who on earth would want to be a telephone operator? Many lowly jobs are theoretically tailored towards women because we are supposed to be more polite.
I didn't know about the car insurance things, but I would bet that that's based on statistics. If women are statistically safer drivers than men, then why shouldn't their rates be lower?
Dressing like a princess is more of a chore than a privelage, I'd say. And even if you look at office environments, women are still expected to wear make-up and heels, while men aren't.

Yeah, they SAY statistics, but there ARE a lot of bad women drivers. My mother has at LEAST as many accidents as I do. MINE are MINOR! Average cost <$1500! HERS are MAJOR! Average cost OVER $15,000! She normally just TOTALS cars(Meaning a total wreck/loss, the car is JUNKED!). I'm not kidding. GRANTED, most women aren't that bad, but it shows how much variance there can be. Not all males are crazy speed maniacs, and most women aren't super polite, careful, etc...
If she doesn't want to wear a wedding dress, she doesn't have to. It is HER option!
Frankly, I LIKE the idea of women not painting their faces, etc.... You don't HAVE to do that stuff. And men in some areas of business HAVE to wear suits, etc... Women are a lot more free there. Heck, a lot of women say they CAN'T wear those shoes.

I'm sure I could think of one bad woman driver and one good male driver as well. But that's not really a statistic, is it.
Of course there are still a lot of woman driver jokes left over from the 50's, but most of the accidents I know of are male drivers. I haven't heard of a single female street racer, for another thing.
It doesn't matter what you like, most women are pretty much required to wear make-up and heels in an office environment. Women also have to wear business suits, just like men, so there's no gap there.
Of course women say they can't wear heels, they wreck your feet and are uncomfortable, but you are still expected to wear them.
