Yep. The only reasons I can think of to go to mine are the pretzel stands (delicious--you just don't seem to find Auntie Annie's anywhere else but malls), the tea shop, and the book shop. I usually get dragged along by my sister and mother (who are generally interested in clothing) when I go, though, so I don't go often if I can avoid it.

And like Melody, I have shopper's anxiety. I don't like the salespeople (they scare me) and I always get nervous when I've got to pay for anything but books. (I keep getting complimented for my taste by the sales clerks in bookshops, which tends to take the nervousness away.)

I like the mall. Usually I just end up going alone when I have nothing else to do and there is something specific I want to get. I usually only go to FYE, Waldenbooks, and sometimes Hot Topic. Occasionally I'll go to other clothes stores if I actually need new clothes for some reason, but the people working at most of the other clothes stores treat customers like crap (or maybe just me. Who knows.)

Absolutely hate it.

Especially at christmas - or, nowadays, between Halloween and New year's. Too many people, overwhelming perfume smells from many stores, canned bad music on the overhead, sales people asking, 'can I help you?' every two minutes, even in bookstores...

It's an act of will not to run sometimes.

I don't mind them when they're not very crowded but it gets dispiriting not being able to find attractive and reasonably priced clothes in my size (I'm not really big, just size 14-16 Australian)

Yeah, that's a pain. The local stores here carry size 0s and size 19s, and practically nothing in between. I'm not either of those sizes, and a lot of gals fall in the middle somewhere. It's hard to find clothing.

I also dislike screaming kids in food courts. I'm sure they are worse now than they used to be.

I used to find them hard because to me they seem to be just a symbol of mainstream. They seemed to be full of clothes that fashion magazines tell you to buy, CDs that are in the charts, restaurant chains and chemist chains and department stores. It's like all the shops are trying to tell you what they you should be.

These days I don't go into them any more, unless I'm buying bits for my computer.

i dont have any reason to be in a mall seeing as i dont have much money, but it never realy seemed to be a problem just as long as nobody gets too close where space and touching become an issue and then we have a problem. the mall is too big and noisy anyway and full of "trendy" people i dont care for.

I love going to the mall alone on weekday mornings. I like going on weekdays because it is not very crowded and I do not feel as overwhelmed as I would going on a weekend.

I opted out of shopping malls especially at Christmas many years ago. The lights, the music, the people. Yuk. How can people go to these places for recreation? These days I usually shop at thrift stores or make things myself. I'm really lucky that my husband does the food shopping for us.

I hate malls but I love thematic streets that sells only cooking appliances, musical instruments, essence oils or whatever, even if I am not a chef, a great musician or a perfumist myself. It is cheaper too.

How can I sum it up... MK shopping centre sucks. I have lived here for AGES and it seems that they turn the volumes up in shops, add strange machines to scare birds which emit a painfully high pitched noise, more people are here and loads of shops are replacing their relaxing old fashioned environments with white walls, white floors, no ceilings (all the pipes are exposed), clothes and goodness knows what else lying around all over. Not only this, but they feel the need to put in 200+ fluorescent tube (flicker) lights to blind me and blast LOUD music out of the several hundered speakers dotted around.

GAAAH... I hate shopping...

I hate malls. One time I had this very feminine boyfriend who dragged me to the mall for 3 hours. It sucked and he just couldn't get why I didn't want to stay there.

The lights all over the place, the people, I find it hard to concentrate, the smell of new clothing and on top of that buying a pair of jeans that actually fit is a hard task when the sizes keep dropping without even informing you of it. Why can't we have real measurements like guys?

Earplugs can help if you don't have to leave them in for very long.

I'm ambivalent about the mall. I don't hate it, because I prefer to try on clothing before I buy it, and if there's a Borders, a Target, and/or a movie theater, I'm okay. (I don't know why I love Target. I think it has something to do with discount bedding, consumer media, and toys all being in the same store (I'm a big kid when it comes to toys (not dolls, but other toys)). I'm also fine if I'm shopping by myself; there's no "crowd thing".

I wouldn't go to the mall more than once in the month leading up to Christmas, but I'm reasonably sure most NTs would agree with that sentiment.

On the other hand, I hate the crowds if I'm shopping with someone, or meeting someone at a specific time and place. If I can't find the person with whom I'm shopping where and when I expect to find her, my mood does a nosedive, and if she's extremely late I start to get anxious. I don't cry, but I'll either pace about half the mall (on one level) until I see her, or I'll sit down and sulk. My iPod's my favorite portable tech; it's good for mall visits, especially if I have to kill time while waiting for my friend and/or ride.
