Is it common for women with AS to get taken advantage of?
Congratulations on being a dad-to-be! I think it's a lot easier to tolerate your own kids so I wouldn't worry so much. I always had control over how to discipline mine. The problem is, you can't force others to make sure theirs behave.
Kids are always going to act-up. It's just part of being a kid. They need to be taught in constructive ways how to behave and why certain behaviors are positive or negative. But some seem to think that discipline is stifling a child's development, or they just don't care to bother.
I never had any problems with mine. Explain the rules, explain the punishments, follow through, and be fair. And don't be afraid to admit you are wrong, for instance if you overreact to something.
