How old were you when you got your ears pierced?

I'm just wondering if there is any sort of age where ear piercing is an inappropriate thing to do? For example, while I was getting my hair cut the other weekend at the salon, a lady came in to get her 5 month old daughter's ears pierced. IMO that is a bit too young to get it done. Luckily the baby didn't scream and cry during the procedure, but they had to get two employees to do both ears at once (standing either side of the baby) instead of one at a time like they usually do.

I got mine done when I was 21. I never had them done as a child. The holes have already grown over

I got mine done when I was 10. They had a machine where they did both ears at once. I still put earrings in the holes (I am 25).

I remember they put cheap earrings in my ears that first time and I left then in for 6 months which meant I had a lump on the back of my ear and the doctor had to drain it with a syringe (not fun)
So we had to replace the earrings with gold hoops. That shows u can't leave cheap earrings in for a long time. at least I can't anyway.

I think I was 8 or 9 when I got my ears done, I had them both done at once at Claire's Accessories as did most of my friends at the time. I think I had them done at about the right age, before that I'm not sure it's a good idea, especially for a baby :O

I was at least 25 when I had mine done but even after all these years one ear still tries to give me trouble. It seems like it doesn't completely heal but the other ear is fine.

I got mine when I was about 12 or so, but they've probably grown back by now. 5 months seems way too young - I don't think it's physically harmful but I don't see the point.

I was 7, they became infected and grew shut. I got them re-pierced when I was 16. They're good now.

I was 7. I hardly ever, if it all wear earrings although I used to. But I can still put earrings in the holes since they haven't healed.

I never wanted pierced ears, but my sister got hers pierced when she turned 7.

14, it was my reward for passing my exams.

I got my ears pierced when I was 2 days old.

I was around 22.

i did it my self when i was 17 or so... i still have all three holes in my left ear.

i wont pierce my baby's ears but when he/she is 8 years old i will let them decide

i had my ears pierced when i was a baby and when i was 13 i pieced them both two more times and i gave myself a nose piercing and snakebites. i only regret the snakebites because i stretched them to bigger gauges and the hole marks are still there

I was 9. I kept my starter earrings, which were plain gold studs, in for 12 weeks, instead of the usual 6 weeks they tell you to. I once went without earrings for several months and they didn't close up.

Personally, I think the right age to take children to get their ears pierced is when they can decide for themselves.

I've never had anything pierced, including my ears.
