Forum Guidelines; split of non-permanent notes
A recent moderation issue on this forum made it apparent the rules are a bit fuzzy. So, I agreed to attempt to clarify them, while also making sure they are relatively consistent with the approach moderators are taking elsewhere. Since the approach to restricted threads here was not consistent with the approach elsewhere, those of us involved in the discussion felt it needed to be modified. While members can be asked to respect the fact that each forum has it's own tone, trying to comply to rules that vary too much is confusing.
I will leave this open for comments for a limited time, and leave the old attempts at guidelines up for a limited time, as well. After a few days, comments will be cleared from here and the thread locked. The two older guideline discussion threads will be moved at that time as well.
Feel free to give improved wording suggestions, as well; some of my paragraphs are a bit awkward.
In case anyone is wondering, while I no longer work as a moderator, I am still consulting with the team and helping with a special project here and there, like this one.

This is now split from the sticky announcement, but remains open for comments or review if anyone has them. Since this isn't a sticky, it will float away over time ...
