i kept the poll options simple and the question vague because i don't want to fracture the results into endless exceptions. if you feel like "YES, but..." or "NO, but...", you can explain your exceptions in a comment. i want it to be a clean split, and you can hash out your caveats in the thread.

Do you mean has used prostitutes in the past or uses them whilst in the relationship?
If they used to I wouldn't have a problem because it's better that than them raping a woman.

either one... you decide. some men would keep on using them, while others would stop when they are in a relationship. so i didn't want to say either way.

Since there is no "Maybe" category... It would depend a lot on how emotionally vested I am in the guy at the time. And if he was upfront about his STD status.

I had the misfortune of being married to a bloke who seemed to think it was acceptable. Really, truly, in every way you could possibly imagine... NO, it wasn't.

I think you're being too judgemental.
You don't know EVERY persons reasons for using a hooker.
What if it was that OR rape a girl who wasn't available? People have needs. At least a hooker is consentual.

Everybody who makes a choice could be accused of being "too judgemental." I was married to a man who suddenly turned out to be inclined to "hookers". I'm not judgemental when I say that it made me sick to discover that the man who said in our marriage vows that I was his "only" turned out to be paying people for something I thought of as precious and holy.

People also have hands. What's wrong with w*king? For crying out loud, women in the sex industry aren't famed for their "free choice." How many women do you know who have been in the sex industry? I have some friends who have been involved in the porn industry. It's a lot less clean than you think.

I actually was a prostitute for a while (only a couple of weeks, i needed money and had thought I was worth nothing more than my body) - not something i'm proud of, but a lot of the men aren't bad people - just desperate for some affection. I'm sorry you've had bad experiences with it - but I try not to judge every man by one.

I'm not sure if you mean to sound aggressive or not, but please try not to attack me for my personal opinion because it is, after all, a discussion forum and i'm just giving my thoughts.

I have not been with a man who has used a prostitute. But if I ever was considering having sex with a man and I knew he had been to a prostitute in the past, it wouldn't bother me.
However, I would not sleep with someone who had a lot of partners, you know the guys who go out and pick up a different girl every weekend.
I don't find it acceptable for a man to use a prostitute if he is in a relationship with someone because that is cheating. Unless there is some arrangement where his partner is ok with it.

I don't like the idea but I don't think I wouldn't care. If a woman did that she should also be held reliable which too much I think for anyone to deal with. Men think they own the world and women think they can only manipulate or sleep with any man to own the world. Just be yourself as I always say but know you are no fault at your own.

I'm really going to go out on a limb here and hopefully don't get virtually castrated for doing so.

I was with a woman for 14 years, she was my first lover. We were married for the last 10 years and have two beautiful children together. So, a year ago I find out she'd been having an affair for the previous 18 months. First thing I did when I found out was go to a high-class (5*) brothel. This is not something that I'm proud of and not something I will consider doing again, but it was very emotionally cathartic. We've all been 'checked' since, and to be honest I was more worried about her partner (sleazy guy who'd slept with 100's of women, no protection) then I was about the escort (regular check-ups, picky about clientele, mandatory protection).

I left my wife, primarily because she was dishonest for so long - not because she slept with someone else.
I've only had one other partner since (3 month relationship, didn't work out). Oh, I blame the guy more too.

I provide this for whatever perspective value it has.
