I cannot see the color orange, to where my husband's family has called it "Heather yellow." I also have trouble seeing certain shades of green and pink because if those two shades are right next to each other like in a colorblindness test, they change color so frequently that I can't tell which color is which (kind of like stars that twinkle between red, blue and yellow).
I recently met another woman who possibly has AS and who, like me, cannot see orange. This made me wonder how many other women are like me. Does anyone else have the same issue?

I don't know any women who have it, AS or otherwise. The only person I knew with color blindness was my father.

And for the record, I have no idea what Heather Yellow is, so it's not just you...

My brother and maternal grandfather have red/green color-blindness, but my mother does not, so I have a 50% chance of being a carrier. I think it's a more common form of color-blindness than orange - does that color just look grey to you?

It is a little more complicated than that. I see it either as yellow or red; to me there is no in between. For example, my mother in-law has what she calls a "grabber orange" car, but to me it looks yellow. The same thing happened to me while playing a game of Disney Cranium, where I thought there were two shades of yellow on the blocks. I also have a filing system that is color coded. I see it as having two shades of red while my husband assures me that at least one of the shades of red was actually orange.
