Does anyone else hate answering the phone as much as I do? It irritates me so much sometimes that people want to talk to me. I only have a cell phone because my family kept worrying I wouldn't have a way to call for help if I needed it. I see it as a burden and often leave it on the kitchen counter. No one ever understands this...they always have their cell phone in hand or against their ear.

I am the same, but I've learnt to deal with it. That doesn't mean I like the phone though. My biggest challenge is making calls, but answering calls is also stressful. My anger levels are elevated when using the damn thing.

I hate making calls, so much. :<

I feel quite flattered when someone calls me, though.

I don't answer the phone, don't make phone calls either. So nothing to hate.

Never thought this would happen, but I hate it. Well, I've hated it for awhile but when I was a teen I was the typical on the phone til curfew every night girl. I will make business calls ect as needed but don't like to "hang" on the phone. I call w. a purpose and like to hang up when that purpose is been served. When others are calling me, I sometimes cringe b/c there is no agenda to other ppls calls many times. I don't want to "chat" on the phone. I do not want to be inturrupted by the phone, I don't want to hear the dagone thing. SO, most of the past decade I have had the ringer shut off and call back ppl who leave a message stating the purpose. Those who say they just called to say "hey", well, I heard them say it on the voicemail and I'm not calling them back to hear them say "hey" again!

Others do NOT understand my policy and thinking on this at all! Some seem offended. Oh well....

I barely answer my phone. My phone can text so if someone wants to reach me, they can text me. I do answer it if I know it's important. My kids' schools send telephone notifications that I do need to hear and the nurse will call if one of my kids is sick. Things like that. Otherwise, people can leave a message and I can call back if it's important enough. I really don't like it when people whine at me that I'm ignoring them because I don't call them. I'm on Facebook almost every day. Talk to me there.

I used to love talking on the phone as a teenager but now I'm old and I hate talking or answering the phone. The past 6 years I have averaged 2 calls a month and I try to keep those short. I only have a cell and I have the feeling that I sound loud or crappy when I talk on it. It just doesn't feel like a real phone but I refuse to pay to have a landline. When I ask people how I sound I don't think they are honest because they always say "fine" and then later ask me to repeat myself. I hate text and don't have it on my plan. Pisses me off when someone sends me a test because I get charged and I refuse to answer it. I let most calls go to voicemail and after I listen I decide if I want to return the call. I'd live totally without a phone but there are times when I need one. Last year Voc Rehab placed me in a job where I did phone support and I quit after 12 days. When I am stressed I can't speak properly, I stammer and can't think of the words, pause for long periods of time and get even more stressed until I have a full-blown anxiety attack. Yep, I hate phones.

I really hate answering the phone when I don't know who it is. My phone at work doesn't have caller ID, so it freaks me out a little whenever it rings (thankfully not very often). I have a cellphone, but hardly ever use it for phone calls. I've never understood why some people like talking on the phone so much. I don't call others to just chat; there always has to be a reason.

With three small kids at home, I usually am too busy to run around chasing the noise of our ringing cordless phone. It is a good think our phones are about to die (we have Panasonic phones), because I have convinced my husband to get a corded phone again so I have a good excuse to cut short the chitchat. OH, and I love Caller ID too! My mom calls multiple times per day. I love her, but she usually just starts talking and talking when I pick up; I put her on speaker phone as I make the kids lunch :)

I'm in high school and it drives my classmates insane when they find out I don't use my phone. My mom insists that I have a cell phone in case of an emergency, but I only check it every other week or so. It's kind of funny because my younger sister is obsessed with her cell phone.

I have to phone people occasionally at work and I hate it, I usually write every word Im going to say but then the person Im ringing will ask how my holiday was or something and it completely throws me. I also have problems getting the information I need out of the other person, I think this has to do with the fact that it takes me a while to process what they said and work out what they were inferring . I write down what they have said then put the phone down and realise they didnt answer the question I asked and it is so embarrassing ringing them back to ask again because I didnt understand the first time. I have been known to wait days before making that urgent phone call because I dread doing it so much.

I find answering a call a bit easier because the person usually wants me to answer a question which I know the answer to. and plus there is no suspense wondering what to say because they are leading the conversation. I also find it very difficult to ignore a ringing phone and people sat next to me would think I was odd if I didnt answer it so I really do have to answer then but can get away with not making them very often. I think email is amazing I can get my point across so much better than on the phone.
