Got my letter this morning for ultrasound scan which I need before I have surgery next week.
Only problem is... I need to have a trans-abdomindal and trans-vaginal scan: eek!
Never done this before and totally petrified about it: I only had the trans-abdominal one last time.
The only good thing is that the hospital already know I have AS, which helps.

Anyone experienced this before and can tell me what happens? In need of reassurance.
What can I do to make it easier on myself?

Thanks!

I've had quite a few trans-vaginal scans. My last one was just a few weeks ago. It's not a big deal really. They put a condom over a long "wand"-like thingy (I know some people call it the "Dildo Cam" :P) and then insert it. At the places I've been to, you could either insert it yourself or have the technician do it. You can also request a female technician if you feel more comfortable that way, or if that's not possible, bring a support person or request that another female staff member be there as a "chaperone", so to speak.

It doesn't hurt. The best thing you can do is relax - easier said than done, I know, but it's honestly not that bad.

Good luck!

Yes, it is really no big deal. I had several in my early pregnancies. You practically don't feel it.
