Having more than one handbag
My mum criticises about my handbag. It is a nice, reasonable, stylish handbag, but she says it's too big and that I should take out a smaller one, depending on where I go. She has a point, but I feel I need to just use one handbag only, because every time I take out a smaller, neater one, I always end up needing everything that was in my bigger bag, so I might aswell just stick to the bigger bag where everything I need is always kept together and I won't forget anything. I don't see the point in owning lots of different hangbags. Once we had an argument about bags, and my mum yelled, ''most girls have about 10 bags!'' I knew she was exaggerating, but I got cross because I don't care what other girls do, there is nothing wrong with having just one bag. A bag's a bag really, and I'm happy with my one I've got.
I seem to have to carry a lot of things, like lipstick, a mirror, my buspass, my keys, my handwash, my jobcentre book, an envelope of my CVs, a pen, my money, my sunglasses, my phone, my iPod, a drink, my sinus tablets, pain-killers, sanitary towels, my lunch if I'm going to work, and there are probably other bits that I haven't mentioned, and I seem to always need all of these each time I go out, or (Murphy's law) I need the exact thing I forgot to take, so that is why I just like to stick to my big bag. Also it has good compartments where I can arrange different things into different compartments so that I don't stand there hunting in my bag for something every time. It's handy really, and saves a lot of unnecessary stress and hassle.
I remember when I went to the zoo, I brought a little bag, and just put a few things that I thought I needed most in it, and left the rest at home, but when we got there I already realised I needed two things that I left at home, and even my mum said, ''aw, you should have brought that!'' and I was like, ''well you wanted me to bring this smaller bag, I could only fit so much into it, and I brought the most important things''.
Anyone else the same?

I have one handbag/purse. I have some of just about anything I might need in most situations in it. I have not seen the great need to have a smaller or even more than one purse until mine breaks beyond repair. I also generally have a book-bag with me for school books, computer, larger lunch etc.
My mom is a big bag person but she has 5 that are all similar-ish but she trades them out for different situations using rules I do not understand. Inevitably because she is switching stuff between multiple bags, she leaves behind something she wanted or needed. Too much risk in my opinion to have multiple bags.

I'd like to have a bigger bag but I dislike carrying luggage around, so I stick with a very small thing that hangs over my body more like equipment...and this only because I don't have pockets.
I just take my wallet and phone everywhere, it's all I think I really need.
But then I always take a book, and where do I put my sunglasses...Ah well.

I have maybe four purses, but I have one I use all the time. The others are special, I have one I use at Easter cuz it's "Springtime" colors. I have one that's a military uniform pattern for when my husband is away and an Americana bag that I use in July. mostly I use my black and white checker print bag. It's plenty big and black and white matches everything, right?
I have a backpack. It fits more in it and it doesn't leave me with a sore neck/shoulder as the weight is more evenly distributed across both shoulders.

Your mom wasn't exaggerating about most women having about 10 bags ;P But anyway...
For the longest time I used just a small backpack like these in this Google search (simple/classy dark-brown leather design ), but because of women pressuring me, I bought a big handbag.
I still use the backpack most of the time. Then I got a gift card I had no use for so spent it on another handbag.
What I do now:
The most important stuff goes in a mesh pouch which I transfer from bag to bag. The pouch is about the size of a ipad/android tablet; I bought it on Barnes and Nobles (if you search there for "mesh pouch" you will see what I'm talking about. They come in mixed sizes and I use the biggest one). The pouch is nice and flexible.
With this pouch, it's easy to move stuff around so you can move the bare necessities all at once between bags. I don't use the handbag compartments at all, UNLESS those objects will not be transfered between bags.
On my small backpack, which I use most of the time, I generally keep notepad, my tablet, and other things I don't need to have with me all the time. These things are easy to transfer to the big bag when needed, really, it's just a handful.
Sooo, what'd I'd really recommend for you... keep using your nice big bag, it's really no big deal as long as the design is appropriate with your work dress code.
Have a simple little handbag for social engagements which demand them (weddings, funerals , etc).
For the zoo I would have brought my backpack, not a little handbag.
If I have a drink or food with me, I definitely use a backpack, not the handbag.
How about keeping different sunglasses/toiletries in each bag? Some women do this (and I think they're crazy, but that's an option)
Do what you like best ![]()
I don't have a lot of handbags but I have more than one, don't know where most of them are, and seldom use any of them. I try to not carry one and fit whatever I carry with me in my pockets. Usually when I go out I just bring my wallet, keys, and cell phone and that's it.
