This is something I just stumbled upon, and I am unsure where it should go, but since it talks the female gender in some way, it should go here. Mods, don't hesitate to move this in another section if you feel otherwise.

What is 'HeForShe'? Per Wikipedia:

Quote:
HeForShe is a solidarity campaign for gender equality initiated by UN Women. It aims to engage men and boys as agents of change for the achievement of gender equality and women?s rights, by encouraging them to take action against inequalities faced by women and girls. Grounded in the idea that gender equality is an issue that affects all people ? socially, economically and politically ? it seeks to actively involve men and boys in a movement that was originally conceived as ?a struggle for women by women?.

It is relatively new, having been founded by UN Women on September 20th of this year.

Men, what do you think? I think I, a man myself, can get behind this campaign. BTW, this discussion is for BOTH genders, so sound off, but keep things civil, please.

I want to be idealistic about this. I expect some men to get behind this to make themselves feel better. It might not be the predominant reason but I have a hard time not imagining it and being bothered by it. I'm not saying I expect all guys to be this way but I don't feel good about anyone having those motives. The impact could be very positive regardless of whether or not everyone is in it for admirable reasons. Even if there are people selfishly claiming to be allies without actually doing anything it's probably a good thing that this movement exists.

I'm not a man, but I totally support and love this campaign.
fortunately at college I have the opportunity to get to know many feminist men. Some even more "radical" than me :D

I'm not buying their facade of inclusivity. It just seems like another tool of the socialists to pander to chivalry.
I don't believe in extra legislations
