It seems that when I am PMSing or on my period my sensory issues worsen. I don't know if this is really the case or if they seem to because I pay more attention to my body during that time. I also am more likely to experience emotional overload. Does anyone else experience this? If so please share any possible solutions or coping mechanisms. It's frustrating for my family.

I hear this often. When I'm PMSing, I'm quite sensitive to sounds. I few of my friends say the same. Your body has a way of cleansing itself out and when it's full of toxins, it dumps them via transportation of the blood, urine and sweat. For many women, it is done so through her menstrual cycle - so I can understand why your sensory profile is "acting out".

My son used to wet the bed a lot and had chronic nose bleeds. Now that we've been able to eliminate a lot of his toxic "issues", he no longer wets the bed and I can't remember the last time he had a nose bleed. In fact, when he's HAD a nose bleed, he's eaten something full of chemicals.

Yep. My eyes are already hypersensitive to light, and when PMSing they get so delicate I have to wear dark lenses even in a dull room.

I don't know if it's sensory overload per se for me. When I'm PMSing it's like I can't really focus as well as I should. It's really apparent when I'm driving, so it might be that I am getting overstimulated by what's going on around me (I've noticed a relation between driving and meltdowns for me).

Everything is worse around my period -sensitivity to light, the way my clothes feel, noise, frustration fuse, even more sensitive to pain. I usually take a small dose of clonazepam when this happens (.25 mg) and I find that it helps my sensory issues. I realize lots of people don't want to touch benzos but it works great for me, even in a tiny amount.
