Has anyone got any first hand experience of ovarian cysts. How do the symptoms compare/differ from pregnancy symptoms and are the symptoms constantly there or do they only occur with your monthly cycle.

I would very much appreciate any genuine help offered. Thank you.

babybird, sorry to hear you're hurting? :( not much help for you as I've not had ovarian cysts, but have been pregnant and pregnancy doesn't hurt. (well, not until birth that is) My niece who has had cysts said they do hurt. Hers were worse with her cycle.
Please get a check up as soon as you can.

Hi. Thanks for that. I'm not in any pain but I've just heard that some of the symptoms can be similar. I've been pregnant before but it was 22 years ago and I can't remember what it felt like.

I felt as though I could have been pregnant because certain things on my body have changed but the HCG tests are coming back negative. That's why I'm looking into what else it might be and ovarian cysts might be one possibility.

It's really frustrating me because I can't do my usual daily routine because I feel tired and dizzy all the time, I can't stop eating either. I'm also experiencing fluttering sensations, my breasts have swollen and have blue veins running through them and there's tenderness too and I feel a tightening/pulling feeling in my lower abs. No pain though just the occasional twinge. I thought I had a period a few weeks ago but it was really light and I got light cramping with it which I don't normally get. It's really weird and I feel like I'm going crazy. I really do feel like there's something going on.

I'm planning on going to see my GP tomorrow morning.

Thanks again for your response.

How light was the period and how long did it last?

A pregnancy test can be wrong if you take it too early.

Hey I just had one aspirated last Thursday. The only symptom I had was pain I would get a sharp pain when I sneezed or bent over. My periods weren't heavy but was very painful and lasted from 5 to 7 days. I had the cyst around 3 to 4 years. Before I had it removed I tried birth control pills but It didn't help. I have to go back in two weeks to if its is gone or not.

The period was one wipes worth of watery red on a tissue and then there was nothing and then the next day I had extremely light spots on a pad that lasted two days. It just didn't seem normal especially with the light cramping.

I had a blood test last week that came back negative so that's why I'm thinking it must be something else. I'm really tired as well and that's not normal for me, I usually can't sit still.

Thanks for your reply.

That sounds like an implantation bleed. If it was, then a pregnancy test or blood test would *not* register that you were pregnant until after that.
I would wait until it has been two weeks after the bleeding, and re-test. It really sounds like you are pregnant.

I've heard that a cyst can cause you to get progesterone hormone and mimic pregnancy symptoms. I am thinking that this may be what's happening to me.

I hope you get the all clear in two weeks. thanks for your response.

Good luck, I get cysts very frequently (about every other month, about the size of an american quarter) and they break off with my cycle. (Which sucks) usually I get dizzyness, nausea, dehydration easy, and a LOT of pain. I'm hoping that all is well for you.

What a coincidence!! I was getting diagnosed w/ a cyst as you created this thread. Mine was pressing into my bladder causing severe pain and spasms.

I've never been pregnant, so I can't compare the two. My cyst feels like a pressure. When I bend over there is pain. My boobs are swollen, but that is typical of PMS for me. I'm due for my period any minute and I know that cysts are at their worst during menstration. My mother has had one burst during her period twice.

I'll be at the Dr tomorrow too. I'll wish both of us luck. Same for Superflynurse and CheredIsTyping.
